On the morning of March 26, a delegation from the Central China Division of State Grid Corporation, led by Deputy Director and Party Committee Member Wang Yiyu, along with Director of the Production Technology Department Xu Youping, Director of the Technology Center Ling Xu, Deputy Director of the Production Technology Department Xie Jun, and other members, visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) for an in-depth discussion on topics such as research cooperation and talent cultivation. EEA was represented by Party Secretary Zheng Zedong, Deputy Dean Zhang Pinjia, Assistant to the Department Dean Hu Wei, Assistant to the Department Dean Li Shisong, and other faculty members. The meeting was chaired by Hu Wei.

Zheng Zedong extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the Central China Division of State Grid Corporation. He highlighted that EEA is currently advancing its comprehensive high-quality development, and in the future, will focus not only on deepening research cooperation but also on promoting interdisciplinary integration and innovating the talent cultivation system. He expressed hope that both sides would engage in in-depth discussions on key issues such as scientific research collaboration and talent development, and explore future development directions together.

Zheng Zedong’s Speech
Wang Yiyu thanked EEA for its long-standing support and introduced the basic situation of the State Grid Corporation, with a focus on the innovation and technological development needs of the Central Division, as well as its work progress and future plans. He emphasized that the Central Division will continue to improve its capabilities in cultivating scientific and technological talent, advancing its own development, and hopes to strengthen project cooperation with the EEA, working together to promote technological development and talent training for mutual benefit.

Wang Yiyu's Speech
Zhang Pinjia introduced the Department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and projects. He mentioned that EEA has implemented three training schemes to promote diversified teaching practices and emphasizes interdisciplinary integration, pushing forward the high-quality cultivation of talent in the field of electrical engineering. He noted that the teaching plan needs to be timely adjusted in response to changes in national development strategies, industry trends, the educational environment, and student needs.
Li Shisong provided an overview of the Department’s research developments. He detailed the organizational structure, which includes “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, and One Alliance,” as well as the “One Axis, Two Wings” disciplinary system. He shared information on the Department’s achievements in research team development, major project breakthroughs, international cooperation, and influential innovative outcomes in recent years.
Zhang Jie, the Department’s student employment supervisor, presented a report on the career development of the Department’s students, covering the employment destinations of both undergraduate and graduate students, annual employment rates, industry distribution, and the number of students working in Hubei and their respective employers.
Xu Youping and Ling Xu provided reports on the work of the Production Technology Department and the Technology Center. They expressed hope that through R&D efforts, they could lay a solid foundation for major project research, key laboratory construction, and the development of research platforms. They also emphasized the importance of technological innovation in helping the country’s energy transition achieve significant breakthroughs. Both sides agreed to strengthen long-term communication and cooperation, establish a well-organized and systematic cooperation model, and address deeper issues together.
Before the meeting, the delegation was given a tour of the Department's History Museum.

This exchange has laid a solid foundation for cooperation between the Central China Division of State Grid Corporation and EEA in research collaboration and talent development. Both sides will continue to deepen their communication and explore more possibilities for cooperation to jointly promote the development of the industry.
