On the afternoon of March 26, the Management Committee meeting of the China-Italy Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing (CI-LAM) was held at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA). Attendees included Professor Xiao Xi, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Tsinghua University, Zhang Pinjia, Deputy Dean of EEA, Sergio Cavalieri, President of the University of Bergamo, Giorgio Ventre and Gianluca Breglio, Professors at the University of Naples, Wang Jian, Secretary-General of the China Science and Technology Automation Alliance, and Zhao Huichan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (online). The meeting focused on promoting deep cooperation between China and Italy in the field of advanced manufacturing, and extensively discussed related topics such as the 2025 Summer School, industry activities, and research cooperation.

Professor Xiao Xi warmly welcomed the delegation from the University of Bergamo and the University of Naples. The 2025 CI-LAM Summer School will be hosted by the University of Bergamo. Both sides exchanged opinions on curriculum design, faculty arrangements, and company visits, aiming to provide students from both countries with opportunities to engage with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and concepts. They also discussed plans for further reform and optimization of the Summer School format in future editions, with a focus on cultivating more professionals with an international perspective. In addition, the participants unanimously agreed on the need to strengthen technical exchanges and project cooperation between Chinese and Italian enterprises, promote the transformation of scientific research achievements, and foster the development of the advanced manufacturing industry. The meeting also emphasized the creation of a platform for business matchmaking, encouraging China-Italy enterprise collaborations, project discussions, and exploring cooperation models such as joint R&D and technology sharing in the advanced manufacturing field.

The successful convening of this Management Committee meeting set clear goals and tasks for the CI-LAM’s annual priorities. It will continue to advance China-Italian cooperation in advanced manufacturing to new heights and contribute to more fruitful outcomes in talent development, technological innovation, and industrial progress.
