Graduate Education
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Tsinghua University is one of the earliest authorized points for doctoral and master’s degrees in electrical engineering in China. In all previous subject assessments that have been completed, the results of this subject assessment have consistently ranked first nationwide or achieved an A+ rating.
Within the primary discipline of “Electrical Engineering”, EEA has five secondary disciplines: “Power Systems and Automation”, “High Voltage and Insulation Technology”, “Motors and Electrical Apparatus”, “Electrical Engineering Theory and New Technologies”, and “Power Electronics and Power Transmission”. All five are among the first batch of master’s and doctoral degree-granting points in the country. Moreover, the first four doctoral points have been recognized as key disciplines in three national key discipline assessments in 1989, 2002, and 2006. In 2007, the discipline of “Electrical Engineering” in the department became one of the first national key primary disciplines. In 2010, the department completed an international evaluation of the electrical engineering discipline.
In light of the trends in the energy industry and academic development, EEA has been offering a Master’s program in Electrical Engineering (Energy Internet direction) since 2018. It also started admitting doctoral candidates in engineering in the same year.
