On March 14, a delegation of 13 members, including Professor Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), and Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary, visited the China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI) for a symposium. The meeting was chaired by Gao Keli, General Manager (President) and Deputy Party Secretary of CEPRI, and attended by Ge Jun, Chairman and Party Secretary, Wang Weisheng, Chief Engineer and Party Committee Member, among other 14 participants.

Feng Shuanglei, Director of the Department of Technological Innovation at CEPRI, and Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of EEA, presented reports on the overall plan for scientific and technological innovation cooperation between CEPRI and EEA, as well as an introduction to key future collaboration projects. Based on these presentations, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on joint research efforts for major national scientific tasks, joint talent cultivation, academic activities, journal publications, think tank development, and international exchanges, as well as the establishment of a more efficient operational mechanism for deepened cooperation.
Ge Jun warmly welcomed the visit of EEA. He emphasized that, as one of the earliest engineering departments established at Tsinghua University, EEA focuses on national major needs and international academic frontiers, deepening interdisciplinary integration and the application of research outcomes. It has trained a large number of innovative leaders in the field of electrical engineering and made significant contributions to technological progress in the power industry. CEPRI is deeply advancing reforms in the research system and mechanisms, with discipline construction as the main focus, reshaping the innovation system, and continuously improving specialized capabilities to address problems from discovery to resolution. He expressed hope that both sides would further deepen practical cooperation, enhance joint efforts in fundamental and cutting-edge research, strengthen strategic talent cultivation, and innovate in the mechanisms for exchange and cooperation, ultimately setting new benchmarks for research collaboration and exploring new models of industry-university integration, contributing significantly to the national energy transition.
Kang Chongqing expressed gratitude for the long-standing support and assistance of CEPRI to EEA. He stated that CEPRI, as a major force in the construction of new power systems and technological innovation within the State Grid Corporation, has comprehensively deepened research reforms, innovatively promoted discipline construction, accelerated exploration in frontier fields, and achieved breakthroughs in key technologies, providing strong technological support for the high-quality development of the power grid. For many years, EEA and CEPRI have maintained a close cooperative relationship, achieving fruitful results in advancing scientific and technological innovation, deepening talent cultivation, and strengthening the integration of industry, academia, and research. He hopes that both sides will leverage their respective advantages, strengthen joint efforts in fundamental major projects, deepen university-enterprise cooperation in talent cultivation for industry leaders, focus on international development, and enhance platform construction, thereby contributing wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of the energy and power industry.
After the meeting, the delegation visited the State Grid Simulation Center, the Power System Dynamic Simulation Laboratory, and the Institute’s Exhibition Center. Relevant department heads and unit leaders from both sides also attended.
