On November 30, 2024, the first council meeting of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University Alumni Association was successfully held at the Taiwan Hall of the Eurasian International Convention and Exhibition Hotel in Dongxihu District, Wuhan. The meeting was attended by Shi Zongkai, Deputy Director of Tsinghua University Council and Vice President of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Zhao Yong, President of the Hubei Province Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University and President of EEA Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of EEA and Vice President of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of the EEA and Secretary-General of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association; Dong Xuzhu, Dean of the School of Electrical and Automation Engineering at Wuhan University and Chairman of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University Alumni Association; and all members of the committee. The meeting was chaired by Gu Shanqiang, Secretary-General of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University Alumni Association.

In his speech, Shi Zongkai, on behalf of Tsinghua University and the Alumni Association, congratulated the establishment of the Province Tsinghua University Alumni Association. Drawing from his experience in alumni association work, he first summarized the work of alumni associations in other departments at Tsinghua University, affirming the efforts of EEA’s alumni activities. He emphasized that even alumni who are not graduates of the EEA but currently work in the power energy industry should also be included in the committee. Finally, he expressed hope that the alumni association would use new media tools such as short videos to promote outstanding figures and exemplary stories within the EEA alumni.

At the meeting, Zhao Yong, President of the Hubei Province Tsinghua University Alumni Association, read out the approval letter for the establishment of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association and the list of members of the first council.

The EEA Branch Association and the Hubei Province Tsinghua University Alumni Association appointed the Chairman, Vice-Chairmen, Secretary-General, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Electrical Engineering Committee, issuing certificates. Afterward, all council members jointly reviewed and voted on the committee's work guidelines, and the committee’s secretariat reported on the preparatory work of the committee. All members of the committee also exchanged ideas and discussed the progress of the committee’s work.

Dong Xuzhu delivered the concluding remarks. He expressed sincere thanks for the trust and support from the Tsinghua University Alumni Association, the Hubei Province Tsinghua University Alumni Association, and the EEA Branch of Tsinghua University Alumni Association. Going forward, the council would use the committee as a platform for communication and exchange for alumni in Hubei and Central China, offering services to EEA alumni in all aspects of life, work, and growth, and supporting alumni in achieving even greater successes in the future. He concluded by providing guidance to the committee’s work, urging all members of the council to unite and strengthen communication and learning within the committee, and to collectively promote cooperation and development among alumni. He called on all members to serve alumni with enthusiasm and integrity, becoming companions and leaders for alumni, promoters and participants for the university, as well as advocates and practitioners of social welfare. This would allow alumni to feel the presence of the alumni organization and experience the warmth it provides.
