On the morning of November 30, 2024, the Executive Council Meeting of the Branch Association of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (hereinafter referred to as the EEA Branch Association) of Tsinghua Alumni Association was successfully held at the Guangzhou Hall of the Eurasian International Convention and Exhibition Hotel in Dongxihu District, Wuhan. The meeting was attended by over 30 participants, including Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University and President of the EEA Branch, Zheng Zedong, Party Secretary of EEA and Vice President of the EEA Branch Association, as well as members of the second Executive Council of the EEA Branch Association. Some members of the Executive Council attended the meeting online. The meeting was chaired by Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of EEA.
In his speech, Professor Kang Chongqing expressed gratitude for the significant support and contributions from alumni, noting that EEA’s work has made substantial progress in recent years with the support of the Alumni Association. He emphasized that the establishment of the EEA Branch Association aims to bring alumni together, create bigger platforms for alumni, and add vibrancy to alumni affairs. With the rapid development of the electrical engineering industry and the nation's high regard for it, the department must not only continue to excel in power systems but also foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Addressing the challenges of talent cultivation in the new era, he called on alumni to offer suggestions and make tangible contributions to the advancement of talent development and technological innovation.
The Executive Council decided to appoint Zheng Zedong as Vice President of the EEA Branch Association and relieve him of his position as Secretary-General, while appointing Yu Zhanqing as the new Secretary-General of the EEA Branch Association.

Yu Zhanqing provided a detailed introduction to the department’s fund projects, covering the department’s overview, the status of the Education Foundation, the types of funds being raised, and the ongoing fund initiatives. He noted that the EEA’s achievements are inseparable from the strong support of alumni for both the faculty and research endeavors.
During the alumni exchange session, the Executive Council members actively participated, offering suggestions and advice for the development of alumni affairs. They expressed pride and honor in the growth of their alma mater and EEA, recognizing the significant value of alumni strength in promoting the development of the university and the department. They hoped to further strengthen the organizational development of the alumni association, diversify alumni activities, increase opportunities for alumni to meet and communicate, and enhance the cohesion of alumni. The goal was to promote resource sharing and mutual cooperation among alumni in areas such as career development, project collaboration, and technological innovation.
