On November 30, 2024, the annual meeting of Alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) and the Inaugural Meeting of Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University were successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei. The 2024 New Type Power System Industry Development Forum was also held concurrently. The event attracted over 200 participants, including business representatives, government leaders, and alumni. The meeting was hosted by Zheng Zedong, the Party Secretary of EEA and Vice President of the EEA Alumni Association.

Shi Zongkai, Vice Chairman of the Tsinghua University Alumni Association and Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Council, mentioned in his speech that every alumni event is a process of learning and education. Through understanding the stories and growth of alumni, he deeply felt the long-term vision characteristics of Tsinghua students. He affirmed the achievements of Tsinghua alumni who persist in a field over the long term, emphasizing their dedication and efforts.

Xie Mingji, Deputy Director of the Wuhan Airport Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee and Deputy District Mayor of Wuhan Dongxihu District, warmly welcomed the alumni attending the event. She expressed her enthusiasm to provide strong support for alumni and offer full-cycle services and all-element support for their entrepreneurial development in the Tianhe Airport Economic Zone. She emphasized solving key issues such as innovation, entrepreneurship, funding, and talent to ensure comprehensive support for alumni entrepreneurs.

Zhao Yong, President of the Hubei Tsinghua University Alumni Association, stressed the importance of the mission and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineering Committee. He highlighted that the committee's mission is to unite, serve, and develop alumni, using it as a bridge to fully leverage alumni's professional advantages, promote academic exchange, foster technological innovation, and contribute to the development of the electrical engineering field in Hubei and the Central China region.

To better provide comprehensive services and support for alumni and further enhance the cohesion and sense of belonging among alumni, the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University Alumni Association was established, with an official unveiling ceremony.

To promote communication and development among postdoctoral alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Postdoctoral Alumni Association was established, and the inauguration ceremony was held.

Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and President of the EEA Alumni Association, introduced the department's recent developments, alumni work, and the "Gao Jingde Technology Achievement Award" fund. He noted that the development of the department cannot be separated from the contributions of every alumni, and expressed hope that alumni will continue to pay attention to and support the department. He further stated that the department will continue to deepen alumni services and strengthen communication and cooperation among alumni to jointly contribute to the department's development.

Huang Yulian, Director of the Business (Investment Promotion) Bureau of Dongxihu District, introduced the Tianhe Airport Economic Development Zone. She mentioned that they will work diligently and passionately to serve the businesses, providing the best business environment and livable conditions, and collaborate with alumni to foster development, create entrepreneurial opportunities, and share the benefits of growth.

After in-depth discussions and coordination with the People's Government of Dongxihu District and alumni businesses, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed on industrial integration, project development, and other aspects. The agreement signing marks a new beginning, and it is hoped that this partnership will combine Tsinghua University and its alumni's cutting-edge research and industrial achievements with the rich practical opportunities in Dongxihu District. This collaboration will drive technological innovation and industrial upgrading, assisting Dongxihu in becoming a leading zone for frontier technology transformation.

Dong Xuzhu, President of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua University and Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering at Wuhan University, delivered a speech. He emphasized that together with the committee and board members, they would uphold the mission of promoting alumni connection, mutual assistance, unity, and innovation in the national energy sector. He further expressed commitment to leveraging alumni's wisdom and power, passing on the spirit of Tsinghua, promoting Tsinghua culture, and steadily advancing their work to make the committee a warm station for alumni in the electrical engineering field.

Senior alumni, including Zheng Fangneng, Second-Level Inspector at the Major Special Projects Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology, stated that regardless of how long it has been since graduation, alumni remain a part of Tsinghua. The alumni association serves as a link that connects them, bringing honor to their alma mater and adding to the EEA’s accomplishments. They also expressed congratulations on the establishment of the alumni association and pledged to continue contributing to the growth of their alma mater.

Subsequently, the 2024 New Type Power System Industry Development Forum was held, hosted by Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Party Secretary of EEA and Secretary-General of the EEA Alumni Association of Tsinghua University. Zheng Fangneng delivered a keynote speech titled "Enhancing Technological Innovation Capacity, Accelerating Results Transformation, and Promoting the Development of New Production Capacity." Other keynote speakers included Academician Wang Xiaoyun's team from Tsinghua University, Zhang Guoyan, Executive Vice President of the Shandong Blockchain Research Institute, Wang Shicheng, Chairman of Suoying Electric Technology Co., Ltd., Shen Fei, Vice President of NIO Inc., and Zhang Xueqiang, Director of Device R&D at Shenzhen Basic Semiconductor Co., Ltd. The forum discussed critical topics to foster rapid development and industrial upgrades in new type power systems, contributing to a sustainable future.

On the morning of December 1, the alumni association organized a visit for alumni to the State Cybersecurity Talent and Innovation Base, providing them with a deeper and clearer understanding of national cybersecurity strategies and cutting-edge cybersecurity technological innovations.

The successful hosting of this alumni annual meeting provided a platform for alumni of the EEA and the electrical engineering industry to communicate, collaborate, and jointly explore development. It showcased the outstanding talent of Tsinghua alumni. We look forward to the future of the Hubei Electrical Engineering Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association, hoping it will achieve even more remarkable accomplishments and help write a glorious new chapter for EEA!
