Following the appointment ceremony, Deputy Dean Yu Zhanqing hosted a special academic lecture by Professor Claudio Adrián Cañizares. The lecture was titled “Carbon Neutral Energy Transition in Canada: A Case Study of Ontario”. In his presentation, Professor Cañizares systematically introduced the current status of Canada’s power system development and the primary energy structure on the generation side in different regions. Using Ontario as an example, he analyzed characteristics such as power market rules, user-side electricity consumption behavior, and pricing features. He also provided an outlook on the carbon-neutral transformation path of the Canadian power system based on the current application status, policy orientation, and development prospects of emerging resources such as hydrogen and electric vehicles. After the lecture, faculty and students from EEA engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Cañizares, exploring topics such as the application scenarios of artificial intelligence in power systems.
