Recently, the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) announced the winners of the 2021 IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship. Xiong Yufeng, a graduate student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University, won this award for his outstanding performance.
About this award
The IEEE Power &Energy Society Outstanding Student Scholarship was established in 2019 by IEEE PES and funded by the PES Endowment Scholarship Fund to reward outstanding graduate members of IEEE PES who choose electric power and energy engineering as their academic research direction. No more than 20 people will be selected globally (5 people actually selected).
Applicants for the award must be nominated by 2~4 IEEE Senior/Fellow Members with good reputation, and then the IEEE PES Scholarship Committee will comprehensively evaluate the candidates from their performance in academic achievement, social contribution and leadership, and finally determine the list of winners.
About the winner
Xiong Yufeng, male, received a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University in 2019. He is currently studying for a master's degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University, and his supervisor is Associate Professor Chen Laijun. His main research directions are the planning and dispatching of hydrogen energy storage in the energy Internet, disaster prevention and restoration of distribution networks, and cyber-physical power systems. His academic performance is among the best, his scientific research results are outstanding, and he has won the 2020 Comprehensively Excellent Scholarship and other honors of Tsinghua University. During the nomination phase of the PES scholarship, he was nominated and recommended by three teachers from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics, including Professor Kang Chongqing, Professor Mei Shengwei, and Researcher Chen Ying, and finally won the scholarship.

IEEE Power & Energy Society Student Branch Chapter at the Tsinghua University
IEEE Power & Energy Society Student Branch Chapter at the Tsinghua University was established in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University in April 2019, Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics served as a consultant, and Zhong Haiwang, Head of the Department's research team, served as an instructor. It aims to provide students with relevant information and services on scientific research projects, academic activities, and conferences. The student branch organizes scientific research projects and industry conferences to build a regional power and energy talent network and promote the growth of individuals and industries.
