On July 27th, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University and State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. signed a letter of intent for cooperation. The two parties will carry out a series of in-depth developments in the fields of key technologies for new power systems, development and application of digital energy storage systems, and the construction of new source-load integrated interactive response systems.

Meng Qingqiang, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd., and Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University, attended the signing ceremony. Dai Qinghua, Deputy General Manager and Party Committee Member of Hunan Electric Power Co., Ltd. and Lu Chao, Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University signed the letter of intent on behalf of both parties. Tang Jihong, Director of Development Department, Pan Jixiong, Director of Marketing Department, Xie Guosheng, Director of Science Network Department of Hunan Electric Power Company, , Yu Zhanqing, Deputy Dean, Researcher Ci Song and Professor Cheng Lin, et al of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University also attended the signing ceremony.

At the signing ceremony, Chairman Meng Qingqiang introduced the basic situation of Hunan Electric Power Company and the power grid, expressed gratitude to the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University for its long-term support and assistance to Hunan Electric Power Company, and made in-depth exchanges with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics on issues such as scientific research and personnel training. Meng Qingqiang pointed out that the "14th Five-Year Plan" is a critical period and a window period for carbon peaks, as well as an important period of cooperation and development between the two sides. Both sides have a solid foundation and broad space for deepening cooperation and seeking common development, and should take the signing of the agreement as a new starting point to expand their respective advantages, and promote a deeper, more stable and more effective win-win development.

Dean Kang Chongqing reviewed the course of cooperation between the two sides, introduced the organizational structure of Tsinghua University in the field of power system and energy Internet of "One department and two institutes" and the research work on "Internet +" smart energy research projects undertaken since 2015, put forward some suggestions on the deep cooperation in collaborative innovation of industry-university-research and the construction of demonstration projects, and expressed his expectation for “carrying out friendly cooperation, sharing advantages, developing together and making greater contributions to the early realization of the dual-carbon goal”.
