On the morning of October 16, 2019, the director-reelecting meeting of the State Key Lab of Safety Control and Simulation of Power System and Large-scale Power Generation Equipments was held at Room 102, Area 3, West Main Building of Tsinghua University.

The meeting was presided over by Prof. Kang Chongqing, director of the EEA and attended by professors Liang Xidong, Min Yong, Zeng Rong, Zhao Zhengming, Yuan Jiansheng, Wang Zhe, Yu Xinjie, Shen Chen and Wu Wenchuan, and associate professors Cheng Lin and Lu Zongxiang.

Prof. Kang read out the notice of the Ministry of Education (MOE) science and Technology Department on the reply to the director re-election of the State Key Laboratory. The Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) agreed to appoint Prof. Zeng Rong as the director of the State Key Lab for Safety Control and Simulation of Power System and Large-scale Power Generation Equipment and Academician Ma Weiming as the director of the Academic Committee. Deputy directors of State Key Lab are professors Wang Zhe, Yu Xinjie, Shen Chen and Wu Wenchuan, and researcher Wang Shanming; associate Prof. Cheng Lin was appointed as the assistant director. Deputy director of the Academic Committee of the Lab is Academician He Yaling, and the Committee members include academicians Guo Jianbo, Luo An, Liu Jizhen, Tang Guangfu and Xia Changliang, and professors Kang Chongqing, Li Zheng, Wang Chengshan, Liao Ruijin, Wang Qiuliang, Wen Jinyu, Ju Ping and Yang Qingxin; associate Professor Lu Zongxiang serves as Secretary of the Academic Committee.

Prof. Kang Chongqing congratulates the new leaders of State Key Lab and thanks the former leaders of the Lab.

After that, Prof. Liang Xidong, former director of the State Key Lab, made a speech. He first thanked all the members and supporting units of the Lab, then briefly reviewed the history and previous leaders of the Lab, and finally entrusted the new lab leading group to inherit and carry forward the spirit of State Key Lab, and lead the Lab group to move forward. Then a handover ceremony was held for the new and old directors of State Key Lab.

Next, Prof. Zeng Rong, the new director of State Key Lab, made a speech. Zeng reviewed the progress of key lab construction and previous assessment work over the past ten years, and thanked the teachers who made outstanding contributions to the lab construction. According to the spirit of the recent meeting of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Prof. Zeng Rong proposed that, although the future policy trend of State Key Lab was not clear, we must strengthen in-depth cooperation with several universities, power grid enterprises and power equipment manufacturers in the power industry, and also hoped that the Department of electrical engineering (EEA) could continue to give strong support to jointly push the State Key Laboratory of Power System to a higher level.

After discussion, Prof. Zeng Rong announced that Prof. Zhou Yuanxiang serves as the director of the Wind-Light Storage Room of State Key Lab established in Xinjiang University, and Prof. Shen Chen takes over the director of the Energy Internet Room of State Key Lab established in Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute. The meeting decided to appoint Prof. Vijay Vittal as a guest professor of State Key Lab for five years.

This meeting is a major event in the history of State Key Lab, and also marks inheritance of the spirit of the EEA, Tsinghua University.
