The ZIJIN-2018 Forum on High-proportion Renewable Energy Electrical Power System was held at the Convention Center in the Nanjing Jiangning Base of Nari Group on November 24, 2018.The Forum was co-sponsored by the Periodical Office of Power System Automation and Department of Electrical Engineering, THU; the scientific research team for 2016 Project 1.1 of National Key Research and Development Plan: “Basic Theories of Grid-connected Electrical Power System and Operation for High-proportion Renewable Energy” gave great supports to the Forum.
Vice-General Manager and Chief Engineer Zheng Yuping of Nari Group Co., Ltd. attended the forum and made a speech. In the Forum, CAS Academician Zhou Xiaoxin, CAE Academician Xue Yusheng, Deputy Director Wang Zhongying of NDRC Energy Research Institute, Deputy Director Xu Tao of the National Power Dispatching Center, Prof. Hu Jiabing of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Prof. Xiao Jun of Tianjin University, and Associate Prof. Lu Zongxiang of Tsinghua University were invited to deliver special reports on the tendencies of high-proportion renewable energy electrical power system.

The forum is divided into two parts: the first part was hosted by CAE Academician Xue Yusheng. CAS Academician Zhou Xiaoxin delivered a report on theNew Electrical Power System and Energy Internet, proposing essential features and key technology of the new power system, and stating the understandings on energy Internet. Deputy Director Wang Zhongying of NDRC Energy Research Institute gave a report on 2050 Targets andPathThoughts of China’s Energy Transformation, describing the prospects on China’s energy transformingpaths in the restraints of energy, economy and carbon emission reduction.Prof.Xu Taowho isDeputy Directorand Senior Engineerof the National Power Dispatching Centermade a report on theReflections on the Operation and Control System Construction of Modern Power System,summarizing a series of problems about dispatching, protection and control of power systems from China’s large-scale grid connecting belts for renewable energy sources, and pointing out the new cognitive system and theoretical methods are needed for the dispatching of future power systems.

The second part of the Forum was presided over by Prof. Kang Chongqing who is Director of Department of Electrical Engineering, THU. Prof. Hu Jiabing of Huazhong University of Science and Technology gave a report onBasic Understandings of the Problems on Multi-scale Transient States of Power System under the Control and Protection of Electrical and Electronic Power Equipment, analyzing the enormous challenges from the high-proportional electrical and electronic power equipment permeated as the power system stability, and introducing several progresses in analysis of electrical and electronic power system stability. Prof. Xiao Jun of Tianjin University made a report on theSafety Margin of Grid-connected Power Distribution Network for High-proportion Renewable Energy Resources, introducing the theoretical and methodological system of the safety margin of power distribution network and its applications in the distribution network planning. Deputy Prof. Lu Zongxiang of Tsinghua University delivered the report onFlexibility Planning of Future Power System for High-proportional Renewable Energy Resources, believing the flexibility is a new proposition of the power system for future high-proportion renewable energy resources, and introducing the progresses of related studies from flexible mechanism, evaluation and planning. CAE Academician Xue Yusheng gave the report on theOptimization of Energy Transformation and the Initiative Supports of Power System, stating the optimizing framework of goals and paths of energy transformation under the restraints of carbon and fossil energy resources, and proposing the initiative supports of power system fully considered in the future energy system developing paths, where the energy transformation is studied in the social-physical-economical-policy-behavior framework.

There are more than 400 participators in the Forum, including college students and teachers at home and abroad, enterprise researchers, members of research team for the National Key R&D Plan Project 1.1, and staff members of Nari Group. The participators and specially-invited experts conducted full discussion on concrete problems.
