In the morning of November 23, 2018, the International Seminar Engineering Education in Power and Energy was held in Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University. Associate Prof. Lu Chao presided over the seminar, and Doc. Li Ruomei who is the former Secretary-General of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE) made a speech. Six experts, namely Martin Manuhwa, TAN Seng-Chuan, J. P. Mohsen, Ian Mercer, Elizabeth Taylor, and Prof. Liang Xidong attended the Seminar, and delivered reports successively.

Martin Manuhwa, Chairman ofFederation of African Engineering Organizations, made a report onthe African Energy Scene: Role of Renewables in Solving Africa’s Energy Poverty. TAN Seng-Chuan, Chairman of APEC Engineer Coordinating Committee, delivered a report on An Overview of the International Engineering Alliance. Prof. and vice-President J. P. Mohsen of University Louisville made a report on theABET Engineering Accreditation and the New Upcoming Changes. IET International Operation Director Ian Mercer delivered a report on theEngineering Education in the UK. Elizabeth Taylor who is Chairwoman of the Washington Accord made a report onCapacity building for Sustainable Development through the International Engineering Alliance Accords, stressing the responsibilities of engineers. Prof. Liang Xidong of Department of Electrical Engineering THU made a report onUndergraduate Education of Electrical Engineering for Tsinghua University, including history of Department of Electrical Engineering and the policies on THU undergraduate education.
After the meeting, experts visited the State Key Laboratory of control and simulation of Power System and generation equipments in Department of Electrical Engineering, THU.
