The Energy Internet Special Committee of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE) was established officially in the CSEE Annual Meeting. The secretariat unit of the Energy Internet Special Committee was co-acted by Tsinghua University and State Grid Information & Telecommunication Group, and the Secretariat is set in Department of Electrical Engineering, THU.
The establishment meeting of Energy Internet Special Committee was held at the National Convention Center on the morning of Nov. 14. CSEE Director Zheng Baosen, CAS Academician Zhou Xiaoxin who serves as the honorary President of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), CAS Academician Chen Weijiang who acts as deputy chief engineer of State Grid Corporation of China, Rao Hong who is Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Research Institute of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., Zhu Weilie who serves as the chief information officer of China Huaneng Group, Wei Xiaojing who is the deputy director of Department of Science and Technology of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), and Lai Zhengtian who is vice General Manager of State Grid Information & Telecommunication Group,attended the meeting and made speeches. The meeting was presided over by THU Prof. Sun Hong.

Director Wang Baosen gave away the employment certificates to the first meeting members of Energy Internet Special Committee, and made an address, expressing his congratulations on the establishment of the Energy Internet Special Committee. He said the Committee will be a good academic exchange platform in China’s energy Internet field, where many experts and scholars can be gathered. It will promote the interconnection, share and collaboration of all energy resources by technological exchanges based on the technical innovation and engineering application in the energy Internet field, so as to build the green, low-carbon, efficient and low-cost energy ecosystem and play a positive role in transformation of China’s energy resources. He hoped the Special Committee adheres to the responsibility of four services, gives full play to the function of academic exchange platform to continuously extend influences; strengthens work planning and carries out the strict standard management to make more contribution to the scientific and technological progress in power sector and China’s economical and social development. Furthermore, he extended his thanks for the contribution made by Tsinghua University and State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) to the preparations for the Special Committee.

After the meeting concluded, the Energy Internet Special Committee organized the first session of the meeting, and it was presided over by Lu Zongxiang who is Secretariat General of the Special Committee and Deputy Dean of Department of Electrical Engineering, THU. The Committee consists of 3 advisors, 1 chairman, 5 vice chairmen and 54 committee members, two of whom act as (deputy) secretary generals. 28 of 60 members are technical experts from colleges and universities, 14 are technical experts from research institutes, and 18 are technical foregoers of enterprises and public institutions. At the meeting, articles of association, organization form, work task, development direction and operating mechanism were well discussed. Based on the extensive opinions of all members, Academician Chen Weijiang who is Chairman of the Committee put forth the definite requirements for the future tasks of the Committee.

On the afternoon of Nov. 14, the Special Committee organized 2018 Symposium on Energy Internet. Based on the theme of “Building the future interconnected & shared energy world”, the following experts and scholars: Academician Chen, Prof. Sun Hongbin of Tsinghua University, deputy General Manager Chen Wenkang of Siji Weizhi Company of State Grid Information & Telecommunication Group, Chief Information Officer Chen Weilie of China Huaneng Group, Rao Hong who is Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Research Institute of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., and Jia Limin who is Professor of Beijing Jiaotong University and Dean of National Institute of Energy Transportation Integration and Development, deeply discussed and analyzed the development direction of energy internet respectively from the mission, technical form, practices and industrial integration of energy internet. They shared research and practical results related to techniques of energy internet in their respective fields. These aroused the thinking on the technology and industrial development of energy internet. All reports triggered the heated discussion of representatives present at the meeting. This will certainly play a positive role in research and application of China’s energy internet. The symposium was presided over by associate Prof. Lu Zongxiang of Tsinghua University.

The disciplinary fields of CSEE Energy Internet Special Committee involve the policies and planning, operation and control, key equipment and business model of energy internet as well as the multi-energy flow comprehensive energy system, the information physical integration system, and the application of advanced information & communication technology in the energy field. The establishment of the Special Committee can contribute to the pooling of production, teaching and research nationwide, and its goal is to construct the academic community of national-level energy internet and vigorously promote the development of Chinese and the world energy internets. Prof. Han Yingduo of THU Department of Electrical Engineering was employed as the advisory member of the Special Committee, Prof. Sun Hongbin as the vice chairman, associate Prof. Lu Zongxiang as the Secretary General and the committee member, and associate Profs. Guo Qinglai and Chen Qixin as the committee members. All this fully reflects the leading position and the positive contribution of Department of Electrical Engineering THU in the field of energy internet.
