Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology released the acceptance results of the key national basic research development plan (including major scientific research plans) in 2017. The 973 project "Basic Research on Source-Grid-Load Collaborated Intelligent Energy Management and Operational Control" led by Prof. Zhang Boming of our department was rated as Excellent.
The project was officially launched in 2013. In response to the challenges of smart grid operation after high proportion renewable energy and large-scale electric vehicles were connected, dozens of research backbones from Tsinghua University, Northeast Dianli University, Zhejiang University, Hohai University, South China University of Technology and other institutions conducted five-year in-depth research, breaking through the key scientific issue "smart grid source-network-load self-regulatory synergy", and proposing a new generation of energy management system technology route of "distributed self-control-centralized coordination". The active power dispatching and voltage control system developed are widely applied in China. The acceptance experts appraised the project as "fully realized and exceeded the expected goals, and the research results in engineering demonstration are really applied successfully". Key technological achievements have been awarded three national science and technology awards, one of the top ten scientific and technological advances in Institutions of higher learning, and four first-class provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, which have exerted an important influence in both academia and industry.
There were 186 projects of the final acceptance by Ministry of Science and Technology, 56 of which (30%) were awarded excellent.
