From August 25 to 31, 2018, the 47th International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) was held in Paris. More than 3700 delegates from power enterprises, research institutes and manufacturing enterprises of 97 countries participated in the event. Teachers such as Kang Chongqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Liang Xidong, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Electric Power Systems, Dong Xinzhou, Xie Xiaorong, Zhang Bo, Wang Bin, Shi Shenxing, Zhuang Chijie, Zhang Ning, and many doctoral students, attended the conference and related specialized committee meetings.

The conference includes thematic forums, technical exhibitions, Study Committee meetings, Research Committee seminars, Working Group meetings, Poster Session, Tutorials and a series of sub-forums. Teachers of the Department of Electrical Engineering chaired or participated in the organization of many of the seminars, as follows:

3. Participating in Study Committee meeting/Group Discussion/Sub-Forum

These working group meetings and symposiums have attracted the enthusiastic attention and active participation of experts participating in the Conference, which reflects the acceleration of the internationalization and the promotion of their international influence for the teachers in Department of Electrical Engineering.

The CIGRE, full English name of the International Council on Large Electric Systems, is one of the world's leading non-profit international power system organizations, and its business involves technology, economy, environment, organization, management and so on. It was founded in 1921. Its purpose is to promote and develop the exchange of engineering knowledge and information on power generation and high voltage transmission between engineers and technical experts in various countries, so that the operators, decision makers and managers in power system can timely understand the development status of integrated technology in the power industry and international practical experience.

CIGRE carries out technical discussions mainly in two forms: first, publishing and discussing papers through academic conferences; second, conducting continuous research on various technical topics through 16 standing research committees. The Conference held in Paris in even-numbered years is the most important event of CIGRE, and this year is the 47th Conference. In odd years, small-scale international conferences and national and regional meetings are held in different countries.
