From August 27 to 31, 2018, the biennial American Electromagnetics Conference (AMEREM) was held at the University of California, Santa Barbara, California. Nearly 200 experts from all over the world attended the meeting. Prof. He Jinliang of our department was invited to give a special report of the conference entitled "Lightning Stroke Process Simulation and Its Effects", introducing his research team's achievements in lightning protection achieved over the years.
At the awards ceremony held on the afternoon of August 30, and the US was the sponsor of the American Electromagnetic Conference. The Summa Foundation announced this year's global HPEM Fellow list of five candidates. Prof. He Jinliang of our department won the award of 2018HPEM Fellow for his contribution in the field of recognition and protection of lightning discharge and electromagnetic effects.
HPEM Fellow is the highest award in the field of high-power electromagnetic research in the world. Since 1986, the Fellow Review Committee established by Summa Foundation, an international authority in the field of high-power electromagnetic technology, has conducted to select every two years the experts who have made outstanding contributions to the field of high-power electromagnetic technology worldwide, and to award HPEM Fellow to experts. So far, 141 HPEM Fellows have been awarded worldwide. Prof. He Jinliang is the fifth HPEM Fellow in China.
