At the US Time from August 3 to 4, 2018, the US-China Green Energy Summit was held in San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA. The summit was co-sponsored by the US-China Green Energy Promotion Association, Tsinghua University Energy Internet Research Institute, Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University, Sichuan University and State Grid GEIRI North America (GEIRINA). Associate Professors Chen Qixin, Zhang Ning and Zhong Haiwang attended the Summit.
The theme of this Summit is " Innovative Energy Solutions: Refueling Our Green Future", aiming at promoting green energy, meeting global electricity demand and reducing air pollution. Zhang Xiaofeng, Executive Vice President of the US-China Green Energy Promotion Association and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the US-China Green Energy Summit, and Dr. Liu Guangyi, Technical Officer of the State Grid GEIRI North America (GEIRINA), chaired the meeting. The Summit invited government officials from China and the United States as well as leaders of the two countries in power, renewable energy, information technology, Internet, big data and artificial intelligence industries to conduct cross-border summit dialogues, including: Steven Chu, Nobel Prize winner and former Secretary of United States Department of Energy, Zhou Xiaoxin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Honorary Dean of China Electric Power Research Institute, Robert Weisen Miller, President of California Energy Commission, James Sweeney, Professor of Stanford University, Director of Precourt Energy Efficiency Center, Professor of Department of Management Science and Engineering and Senior Member of American Association for Energy Economics, Guan Xiaohong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Zhiwei Wang, President of the State Grid GEIRI North American (GEIRINA),
Prof. Chen Qixin delivered a speech at the plenary meeting of the Summit on behalf of the co-sponsor Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University. He reviewed the initial results of development and technology transfer cooperation in the fields of industrial development, low carbon energy and renewable energy since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on U.S.-China Climate-Smart/Low-Carbon Cities Cooperation (US-China “2+2” Cooperation) between the Sichuan Provincial Government and Tsinghua University with Washington State Government and Washington University. He added that in the future, we will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation, promote wider and deeper cooperation in clean energy and other fields, and strive to achieve more results, so as to make positive contributions to promoting green and low-carbon development and tackling global climate change.

Four round-table forums were organized to discuss the four themes of “renewable energy, energy storage system and energy internet”, “Internet of things, artificial intelligence, big data and power market”, “innovative Silicon Valley and smart city”, and “new energy vehicles and demand side management”. Prof. Zhang Ning and Wang Zhongmin, President of California Branch of North American Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers (NACSAE), co-chaired the Forum on "New Energy Vehicles and Demand Side Management". Associate Prof. Zhong Haiwang delivered a speech at the Round Table Forum.

Two special invitation forums were held at the Summit. Associate Prof. Zhong Haiwang chaired the special forum on “Battery Technology and Electric Vehicles”. At the forum, Prof. Cui Yi of Stanford University gave a special report on the new development of battery technology.
