On the afternoon of July 7, 2018, the founding ceremony of the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE) branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association (DEE Alumni Association for short) was held at the Second Conference Room of Tsinghua University. Prof. Shi Zongkai, Vice Director of the University Affairs Committee of Tsinghua University and Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, attended the meeting. Moreover, the following personnel also attended the ceremony: He Meiying, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University (Alumni of 1956), Guan Zhicheng, former vice president of Tsinghua University (Alumni of 1964), Gu Guobiao, Academician of the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Alumni of 1953), and Zhou Xiaoxin, Honorary President of the China Electric Power Research Institute (Alumni of 1959), more than 50 alumni of Department Electrical Engineering from the State Energy Administration, the State Grid Corporation, the Southern Grid Corporation, the State Power Investment Corporation Limited, China Huadian Group, China Energy Engineering Group and China Three Gorges Group, as well as Academician Lu Qiang, Academician Han Yingduo, members of the Party and government leading groups and some teachers.

The ceremony meeting was chaired by Kang Chongqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE), Tsinghua University. The meeting first completed the election of vice-president and vice-secretary-general of the Alumni Association. Zeng Rong, Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering, served as President of the Tsinghua DEE Alumni Association. Prof. Shi Zongkai announced the Approval on the Establishment of the DEE branch by Tsinghua Alumni Association and delivered a speech. Shi Zongkai highly affirmed the contribution made by the Department of Electrical Engineering to the Tsinghua University and the inheritance of the spirit in teaching and educating people. Taking the outstanding cases emerged among the graduates of the DEE in recent years as examples, he praised the selection of the graduates of the Department of Electrical Engineering, which represents the choice of the new generation of Tsinghua graduates. At the same time, he added that the establishment of the DEE Alumni Association means the gathering of social forces. The Association will not only help the development of the alumni of the DEE, but also become a tremendous support force for the development of the Department。

Several outstanding alumni were invited to serve as advisory members, strategic development advisory members and executive directors of the Tsinghua DEE Alumni Association. He Meiying, Shi Zongkai, Lu Qiang and Han Yingduo were appointed as advisory members and strategic development advisory members, and received the appointment letters. On behalf of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Guan Zhicheng introduced and published the new version of the Department's home page and the Wechat official account. He hoped that the new home page and Wechat official account would help all alumni to more easily understand the relevant information on Department of Electrical Engineering and all previous DEE alumni, and make the Association as a platform for their exchange.

After the founding ceremony, the first joint meeting of the Advisory Committee/Strategic Development Advisory Committee/Standing Council was held by the Tsinghua DEE Alumni Association. Min Yong, Chairman of the DEE Academic Committee, chaired the meeting. Director Zeng Rong of the DEE reported on the development of the Department of Electrical Engineering in recent years, and together with Mr. Zhi Cheng, he presented letters of appointment for the executive directors. After the founding of the Tsinghua DEE Alumni Association, its aim is to better build a platform for alumni to communicate with each other, serve the development of the alumni, and better support the talents cultivation and teaching training of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
