At the local time, June 18, 2018, the fellow selection results of the Canadian Academy of Engineering were announced in Calgary, Canada. Zhen (Jane) Wang, an alumnus of 1991 in Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE), Tsinghua University and Professor of Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at University of British Columbia, Canada (UBC), was elected as a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. A total of 59 new fellows were added. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was elected International Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Zhen (Jane) Wang received her Bachelor's Degree in Department of Electrical Engineering Tsinghua University in 1996 and was honored as an excellent graduate; she received Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree at the Department of Electrical Engineering of Connecticut State University in the United States successively in 2000 and 2002, and won outstanding doctoral awards in engineering. Since August 2004, she has taught in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, Canada. She is now a professor of the Department.

Her research direction is statistical signal processing theory and application, focusing on information security, biomedical signal processing and modeling, wireless communication and genome signal processing and statistical detection theory and application.
