On June 6, the 2026 Annual Work Meeting and Second Academic Annual Conference of the Electromagnetic Testing Technology and Equipment Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE) was successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The conference was hosted by the Committee and organized by Hubei University of Technology. More than 120 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and enterprises across China gathered in Wuhan to engage in in-depth discussions on frontier developments, key technologies, and engineering applications in electromagnetic testing technologies and equipment, and to explore pathways for disciplinary development and industrial innovation.

The annual work meeting of the Committee was chaired by Associate Professor Li Shisong, Secretary-General of the Committee from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University. Wang Zhentao, Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, delivered opening remarks. Subsequently, Li Shisong presented the Committee’s annual work report, systematically summarizing progress in organizational development, academic exchange, platform building, and industry services since its establishment, and outlining key tasks for the next stage. During the meeting, the Committee also conducted the introduction of newly appointed members and a democratic election process. Director Wang Zhentao read out the official approval document regarding adjustments to Committee membership issued by CSEE. Following principles of fairness, impartiality, and standardization, an online voting process was conducted, with current members and their representatives participating. After formal review and approval procedures, appointment certificates were issued to newly added members.

Professor Huang Songling, Chair of the Committee and Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, delivered a speech. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, the host institution, co-organizers, and all committee members and experts for their long-term support. He emphasized that the Committee would continue to serve as a bridge, further unite industry strength, and promote innovation in electromagnetic testing technologies and equipment.

The Second Academic Annual Conference was chaired by Professor Qian Zheng of Beihang University, member of the Committee and Dean of the Academic Affairs Office. Professor Song Xiaochun, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Hubei University of Technology, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the host institution, extending a warm welcome to all leaders, experts, and delegates.

The conference featured several high-level invited keynote reports. Professor Dong Xuzhu of Wuhan University delivered a report titled Exploration of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Twin Applications in Distribution Systems, sharing the latest progress in sensing, diagnosis, and operational optimization enabled by AI and digital twins. Professor Du Boxue of Tianjin University presented Influence of Electromechanical Stress on Breakdown of UHV GIL Insulators, introducing advances in material science and insulation performance in high-voltage equipment. Professor Kang Yihua of Huazhong University of Science and Technology delivered Eddy Current Detection Methods for Deeply Buried Broken Strands in High-Speed Railway Cables, demonstrating applications of electromagnetic nondestructive testing in rail transit safety. Researcher Zhao Jianting of the National Institute of Metrology, China, presented Progress in Quantum Voltage Standards Based on High-Temperature Superconductivity, outlining developments in quantum electrical standards and precision metrology. Professor Zhang Xiaoxing of Hubei University of Technology delivered Optical Detection Methods for Fault Characteristic Gases in Electrical Equipment, focusing on fault diagnosis, condition assessment, and advanced sensing technologies for high-voltage equipment. The keynote sessions covered intelligent distribution sensing, digital twins, insulation and fault diagnosis of electrical equipment, electromagnetic nondestructive testing, quantum metrology, and advanced testing equipment. The reports addressed both fundamental theories and key technologies as well as engineering applications and industrial needs, fully demonstrating China’s latest achievements and vitality in electromagnetic testing technologies and equipment.

Keynote session

On the afternoon of June 6, parallel sessions were held. Experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and enterprises engaged in academic exchanges on nondestructive testing, electromagnetic metrology, intelligent sensing, and related interdisciplinary topics. The parallel sessions further expanded the depth and breadth of academic discussions, providing an important platform for young scholars, engineers, and industry representatives to present achievements, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaboration.

The successful convening of this conference further strengthened the organizational development of the Electromagnetic Testing Technology and Equipment Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and promoted exchanges and collaboration in electromagnetic testing, electromagnetic metrology, and electromagnetic sensing. Looking forward, the Committee will continue to rely on the CSEE platform, bringing together universities, research institutes, enterprises, and industry organizations. Focusing on national energy security, new power system development, and advanced equipment manufacturing needs, it will continue to promote key technological breakthroughs, academic exchange and collaboration, and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, contributing to enhanced innovation capacity in China’s electromagnetic testing and equipment sector and supporting high-quality development of the power industry.
