On June 8, a delegation from the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education visited the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University. The delegation included Academician Xu Zhenghe, President of the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education; Ying Guangwei, Chairman of the Low-Carbon Energy Utilization and Intelligent Power Committee of the China Electric Power Development Promotion Association; Zhu Xing, Deputy Director of the General Affairs Management Department of the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education; Wang Tongxun, Chief Technical Expert for Power Quality at the China Electric Power Research Institute; and Wang Fei, Associate Professor at the School of Energy and Mechanical Engineering, Shanghai University of Electric Power. The delegation was received by Professor Kang Chongqing, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering; Professor Cheng Lin, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Power Systems; Professor Zhang Jiansheng of the Department of Energy and Power Engineering; and others.

During the symposium, the two sides held productive and cordial discussions on future collaboration between the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education and Tsinghua University, with a pragmatic and engaging atmosphere throughout. Building on a series of collaborative projects soon to be launched between local energy enterprises in Yunnan and Tsinghua University, representatives of the participating research teams each delivered thematic presentations on the projects under their leadership, systematically showcasing Tsinghua’s research layout and technological capabilities in the relevant fields.
Professor Zhang Jiansheng and Associate Research Fellow Xi Yufei of the State Key Laboratory of Power Systems delivered titled reports on energy optimization and regulation as well as the development of new power systems. Covering project background, objectives, research content, core concepts, and existing research foundations, they comprehensively demonstrated the solid expertise and technological strengths of Tsinghua’s research teams in these areas. Zhao Ergang, Engineer at the Tsinghua University Wuxi Institute of Applied Technology, and Ma Lin, Postdoctoral Researcher in Professor Ding Yanjun’s research group from the Department of Energy and Power Engineering, focused on intelligent operation and maintenance of new distribution systems and power station control technologies. Representing their respective teams, they presented previous research achievements and implementation plans.

In their concluding remarks, leaders from both sides expressed great expectations and strong confidence in future cooperation. Xu Zhenghe sincerely remarked that Tsinghua University is the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education’s most steadfast and trusted partner. The Yunnan Institute of Higher Education will work hand in hand with Tsinghua University to advance Yunnan’s green energy transition, strengthen the demonstration and application of key technologies, and jointly build Yunnan Province into a national model for strategic energy transformation. Responding on behalf of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Kang Chongqing stated that the Department would fully leverage its strengths in research and talent development in areas such as new power systems and the Energy Internet, work closely with the Yunnan Institute of Higher Education and all partners, advance the implementation and success of collaborative projects, and continue contributing Tsinghua’s expertise to the high-quality development of Yunnan’s energy sector. This exchange further strengthened mutual understanding and trust between the university and local partners, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in the field of green energy and opening a new chapter in the joint efforts of Tsinghua University and Yunnan Province to serve China’s national “Dual Carbon” strategy.
