Dr. Peng Lisha, Associate Research Fellow of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), has been selected for the “Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholars Program.” From January 25 to 31, she visited the National University of Singapore for a one-week academic exchange with the research group of Professor Qian Xudong from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The two sides conducted discussions on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), focusing on “building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization,” as well as advanced non-destructive testing technologies.

During the visit, in-depth exchanges were carried out on topics such as infrastructure structural integrity assessment, digital twin technology, and non-destructive evaluation. They also exchanged experimental plans and research insights on multiple technical areas, including ultrasonic non-destructive testing of interfacial pressure in composite materials, electromagnetic emission monitoring of active cracks in concrete structures, and non-destructive evaluation of high-temperature creep damage in ferromagnetic materials, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.

In addition, Peng Lisha visited the research group of Professor Fang Zhen at Nanyang Technological University, as well as the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) and the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) under A*STAR for academic exchange.

This visit was supported by the “Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholars Program.”

About the Program

To implement Tsinghua University’s “2030 Global Strategy” and promote internationalization, academic cooperation, and sustainable development, the “Tsinghua–Asian Universities Alliance Sustainable Development Young Scholars Program” has been established with support from the Tsinghua Visionary Sustainable Development Fund. The outbound mobility component of the program aims to support young faculty members in conducting short-term academic visits to member universities of the Asian Universities Alliance, promoting knowledge sharing, collaboration, innovation, and joint research in sustainable development fields.
