On the afternoon of January 2, the General Faculty Meeting of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) was held in Lecture Hall 217, Zone 3, West Main Building. Over 70 faculty members, along with members of the department's Party and administrative leadership team, attended the meeting. Zheng Zedong, the Party Secretary of the department, presided over the session. Invited guests included Wang Yuying, Director of Tsinghua University’s Asset Management Office, Yang Fang, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Achievements & Awards Office of the University’s Research Institute, and Wang Xiaoyun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Adjunct Professor in EEA.

Policy Briefing Session
Wang Yuying & Yang Fang Provide Policy Insights
In the policy briefing session, Wang Yuying introduced the framework of the Tsinghua University Teaching and Research Space Management Regulations, outlining the entire reform process and explaining the university's property asset allocation strategy. This provided a solid foundation for the department to implement related policies in the future. Yang Fang provided an in-depth explanation of the science and technology awards system in China, covering the latest reforms in the National Science and Technology Awards, nomination requirements, and recent award trends. She also introduced other major awards, including those from the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipality, and offered valuable strategies for award applications.

Wang Xiaoyun’s Speech
Academician Wang Xiaoyun expressed her gratitude for being appointed Adjunct Professor in EEA. She briefly summarized her work and achievements in cryptographic theory and data security management. She also expressed her hope to engage in deeper exchanges with faculty members, foster joint student training, and advance research in power grid data security.

Zheng Zedong & Kang Chongqing Deliver Annual Reports
In the leadership reporting session, Party Secretary Zheng Zedong presented an overview of the department’s Party affairs in 2024, covering key initiatives such as: Party discipline education; Implementation of inspection rectifications; Development of a national benchmark Party organization; Efforts in united front work, public engagement, and security. Department Dean Kang Chongqing reported on academic development, teaching and research, the national key laboratory, think tank initiatives, and faculty team building. He emphasized that the department will unite with faculty and students to embark on a new centennial journey, striving for even greater achievements.

Each leader reviewed their political studies, work responsibilities, and future plans. After the reports, attendees conducted a democratic evaluation of the leadership team's performance for the year, as well as the completion of Zhang Pinjia’s probationary assessment.


Recognition & Awards

To support postdoctoral development, the department launched the "Upright and Diligent Young Scholars" Postdoctoral Support Program and established a Postdoctoral Association. Kang Chongqing presented honorary certificates to awardees and members of the association. Ran Zhaoyu, a representative of Upright and Diligent Young Scholars, delivered a speech.

Progress Reports from Key Research Institutions
Updates from “Two Institutes and One Laboratory”
In the institutional reports session, Min Yong, Director of the State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control, Lu Zongxiang, Executive Vice President of the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, and Gao Wensheng, Executive Vice President of the Tsinghua University Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute shared progress, future plans and key achievements in 2024:
State Key Laboratory: Continued development of the Changping Nankou Base, improved talent support mechanisms, established advisor group regulations, and strengthened doctoral student training. Sichuan Institute: Further refined research focus areas, enhanced experimental testing capabilities, improved certification and service frameworks, and advanced technology commercialization. Beijing Institute: Strengthened think tank and research initiatives, supported major national projects, promoted structured scientific research, and led institutional innovation efforts.
This meeting provided faculty members with a comprehensive understanding of the department’s achievements in 2024. In 2025, EEA will continue to work together in unity and innovation, driving the high-quality development of all departmental initiatives.
