From May 22 to 24, 2024, the 27th National Invention Exhibition, themed “Belt and Road” and the BRICS Skills Development and Technology Innovation Competition, was held at the Shijiazhuang International Exhibition Center. The project submitted by the team of Kang Chongqing and Zhang Ning from the Department Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), titled “Key Technologies and Devices for Carbon Emission Monitoring and Carbon Reduction Applications Based on Electric-Carbon Coupling”, won the gold medal. The team members include Zhang Ning, Du Ershun, Kang Chongqing, Li Yaowang, Yang Chen, Liu Yuliang, Zhang Shixu, and Feng Haoran.
The project was jointly developed by the research team from the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute and EEA, Tsinghua University, based on the power carbon emission flow theory first proposed by the research team in 2011. After over ten years of continuous research and improvement, it can achieve “minute-level - user-level” real-time precise monitoring of carbon emissions in power systems, dynamic forecasting of power carbon emission factors, low-carbon electricity demand response, and evaluation of flexible electricity carbon reduction benefits, comprehensively guiding various types of power users in low-carbon flexible electricity usage. The relevant results have been successfully applied in several provinces and cities, including Jiangsu, Beijing, Guangdong, Liaoning, and Shanghai. This invention not only attracted the attention and praise of attending leaders and experts but also garnered consultation cooperation from multiple enterprises from Macau, Hebei, and Jiangsu, promoting the industrialization process of related inventions.
