On the afternoon of April 29, a cooperation signing ceremony between the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the University of Bergamo in Italy was held in the West Main Building. Attendees included Yang Bin, Vice President of Tsinghua University, Xiaoxi, Vice Dean of the Graduate School, Yu Xinjie, Party Secretary of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA), Zheng Zedong, Deputy Dean of EEA, Wen Peng, Deputy Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and President Sergio Cavalieri and Vice President Flaminia Nicora of the University of Bergamo. The signing ceremony was hosted by Zhang Pinjia, Deputy Dean of EEA.

Yang Bin welcomed the delegation from the University of Bergamo and expressed gratitude for their support and assistance during Tsinghua students’ visits to Italy. He highlighted the significance of the five-year collaboration between the University of Bergamo and Tsinghua University in the field of advanced manufacturing through summer schools, which has greatly promoted academic exchange and talent cultivation between the two universities. He noted the broad prospects for multidisciplinary cooperation and exchange and looked forward to further deepening the partnership, enhancing mutual visits, and welcoming more faculty and students from the University of Bergamo to Tsinghua University.

Yu Xinjie introduced the recent achievements of EEA in international cooperation and exchange. The department continually enhances the internationalization of talent cultivation, builds a world-class faculty team, and hosts numerous international academic exchange activities, thereby increasing its global influence. As the host of the sixth China-Italy Summer School, the department has organized a series of engaging academic and cultural activities and eagerly anticipates the arrival of faculty and students from the University of Bergamo.

Wen Peng shared insights into the comprehensive academic system and talent cultivation platform of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He expressed his pleasure in being part of the China-Italy Advanced Manufacturing “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory and looked forward to diversified cooperation with the Italian side in the field of advanced manufacturing.

Agreement signed between University of Bergamo and Department of Mechanical Engineering
Following the discussions, Zhang Pinjia and Wen Peng, on behalf of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, respectively, signed a memorandum of understanding and a student exchange agreement with the University of Bergamo. These agreements chart the course for future multifaceted and multitype collaborations and establish a friendly and stable partnership.
