At the meeting
To strengthen overall coordination and improve collaborative efficiency, on January 14, 2024, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University, along with the Tsinghua University Institute for Energy Internet Innovation (referred to as the Beijing Institute), the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute (referred to as the Sichuan Institute), the State Key Laboratory of New Power Systems Operation and Control (referred to as the National Lab), and the National Energy Internet Industry and Technology Innovation Alliance (referred to as the Alliance) held the first joint meeting of “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, One Alliance” in Chengdu. Nearly 30 attendees, including Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and President of the Beijing and Sichuan Institutes, Yu Xinjie, Party Secretary of EEA, Cheng Lin, Deputy Director of the State Lab, Zhang Bo, Deputy Director of the State Lab, Gao Wensheng, Executive Vice President of the Beijing Institute, Gao Feng, Vice President of the Beijing Institute, Chen Qixin, Director of the Energy Internet Think Tank Research Center at the Beijing Institute, Lu Zongxiang, Executive Vice President of the Sichuan Institute, Liu Wanhua, Vice President of the Sichuan Institute, Liu Yi, Vice President of the Sichuan Institute, and Lv Lanchun, Assistant to the President of the Sichuan Institute, attended the meeting. The morning and afternoon sessions were chaired by Kang Chongqing and Yu Xinjie, respectively.

All participants first heard the annual work summary of “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, One Alliance”. Yu Xinjie, Party Secretary of EEA, Gao Wensheng, Executive Vice President of the Beijing Institute, Lu Zongxiang, Executive Vice President of the Sichuan Institute, Cheng Lin, Deputy Director of the State Lab, and Pang Qingguo, Director of the Alliance Secretariat, successively presented the progress of their respective work in 2023.

Thematic discussions were conducted through a combination of lead speeches and discussion speeches. Lu Chao, Deputy Dean of EEA, Zhang Bo, Deputy Director of the State Lab, Zhang Pinjia, Deputy Dean of EEA, Chen Qixin, Director of the Energy Internet Think Tank Research Center at the Beijing Institute, Pang Qingguo, Director of the Alliance Secretariat, Zhang Qin, Director of the Operations Department of the Beijing Institute, and Li Qi, Director of the Experimental Platform Department of the Sichuan Institute, successively led discussions on seven topics, including “Organized Research,” “Construction of National Key Laboratories,” “Joint Training of Graduate Students,” “Construction of Energy Internet Think Tank Centers,” “Work of the Energy Internet Industry Alliance,” “Recruitment Work of One Department, Two Institutes,” and “Sustainable Development Ideas for Experimental Platforms.” They comprehensively analyzed the current situation and deeply discussed the problems. In each topic, participants closely connected with their practical work, engaged in discussions from different perspectives, shared practical experiences and insights, and provided many constructive suggestions for advancing relevant work.
Kang Chongqing’s concluding remarks
Finally, Kang Chongqing delivered the concluding remarks of the meeting. He expressed gratitude for the fruitful achievements and outstanding highlights of “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, One Alliance” over the past year, acknowledging the hard work of all staff. Through the exchange at this meeting, innovative ideas for “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, One Alliance” were further generated. Regarding how to carry out the work in 2024, Kang Chongqing summarized it from three aspects: accurately understanding the spirit and requirements of the school, grasping the external situation in a timely manner, and promoting the coordinated development of the “Five in One” strategy. Firstly, he conveyed the latest spirit and requirements of Tsinghua University regarding discipline development and team construction. Secondly, he pointed out the need to fully understand the latest trends and dynamics at the national level, industry level, sister school level, and international exchange level, seize the opportunities of the times, and respond to risks and challenges. Finally, he hoped that “One Department, Two Institutes, One Lab, One Alliance” could strengthen the coordinated development of the “Five in One” strategy based on its own development, focus on long-term development in external cooperation, platform construction, and resource aggregation, and effectively form a strong synergy of the “Five in One” strategy supporting each other.
