On December 2, the 11th Salon of Think Tank Voice, organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) and the Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute at Tsinghua University, took place in Beijing. The salon focused on Artificial Intelligence and New Power Systems, including a seminar for graduate supervisors from EEA. The event was successfully hosted, with over 3000 online viewers through the live broadcast on Tsinghua University's Energy Internet Video Channel. Participants included Guo Qinglai, Associate Director of the Teacher Development Center at Tsinghua University, Zhu Guiping, Deputy Dean of EEA, Wu Wenchuan, Deputy Secretary of EEA’s Party Committee, and Shen Chen, Director of the EEA’s Degree Committee. The salon was chaired by Professor Cheng Lin from EEA.
Presentation by Zhang Dongxia
During the keynote presentation, Zhang Dongxia, a professor-level senior engineer at China Electric Power Research Institute, delivered a report titled “Research on the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in New Type Power Systems”. The report covered the demand analysis, typical applications, and development trends of artificial intelligence technology in new type power systems, providing specific application cases.
Presentation by Chen Ying
Following that, Chen Ying, a researcher from EEA at Tsinghua University, presented a report titled “Artificial Intelligence Practice on the Cloudpss Platform”. The presentation emphasized the importance of simulation in new type power systems, provided a detailed introduction to the concepts of artificial intelligence technology and simulation intelligence, and discussed the artificial intelligence practices on the Cloudpss platform.
Supervisor Training and Exchange Session
After the keynote presentations, there was a session for training and exchange among graduate supervisors. The discussion covered topics such as supervisor-student relationships, effective differentiation of research content among multiple doctoral students under the same supervisor, and the training of full-time engineering doctoral students, especially in the management of professional practice in enterprises. The discussion session was chaired by Professor Zhu Guiping, Deputy Dean of EEA. During the discussion, the supervisors actively shared their thoughts and suggestions, contributing to a lively atmosphere.
At the seminar
This seminar provided a platform for communication among the supervisor team, addressing current issues and playing a crucial role in promoting discipline development and innovation in education and teaching. EEA will continue to excel in graduate education, adhering to the fundamental task of implementing morality and nurturing individuals, making greater contributions to improving the quality of electrical engineering graduate education.
