On the morning of December 4, Sergio Cavalier, President of the University of Bergamo in Italy, and his delegation visited Tsinghua University. Vice President Wang Hongwei of Tsinghua University met with the guests in the West Hall of the Main Building to discuss further expanding cooperation between the two institutions.

Representing Tsinghua University, Wang Hongwei extended a warm welcome to Sergio Cavalier and introduced the latest developments at Tsinghua University in scientific research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He mentioned that substantial cooperation had already taken place between the University of Bergamo and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics in the field of advanced manufacturing, including summer schools and innovation forums. Mr. Wang expressed the hope for continued collaboration to explore broader and deeper modes of cooperation.
Sergio Cavalier provided an overview of the University of Bergamo’s recent developments in advanced manufacturing, sustainable rural economy, and digital humanities. He expressed the University of Bergamo’s high regard for collaboration with Tsinghua University and hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to deepen student exchanges, faculty interactions, and research cooperation between the two institutions. The aim is to further strengthen friendly cooperation and achieve fruitful outcomes in a wider and more profound range of areas.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University. Representatives from the University of Bergamo, including Gianluca D’Urso, the representative of applied research, and Giovanna Barigozzi, the director of the Department of Engineering and Applied Science, introduced the current situation of relevant disciplines, research teams, talent cultivation, and potential areas for future cooperation. Zhu Guiping, Director of Teaching at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Liu Lei from the Mechanical Engineering Department, and the delegation engaged in discussions and exchanged views on diversified collaboration models. Both parties plan to build on the foundation of stable graduate summer schools and continually advance student exchanges, young faculty interactions, and interdisciplinary research cooperation, thereby promoting academic and cultural exchanges.
