On the afternoon of October 18, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) invited Professor Zhong Jin from the University of Hong Kong to conduct an academic lecture on the topic “How to Write a Good Scientific Article” for graduate students. The lecture aimed to provide guidance and clarification for students in the field of thesis writing. Over forty graduate students from the EEA and other departments attended the event, which was presided over by Deputy Director Zhu Guiping of EEA.
Professor Zhong Jin gave a presentation
Leveraging her experience as a doctoral advisor and associate editor of journals, Professor Zhong Jin provided a detailed introduction to common approaches for engineering students to conduct research, collaborate effectively with advisors, write quality papers, and submit academic articles to journals. She also shared meticulous insights into the preparation, steps, and considerations in the early stages of paper writing, emphasizing that effective research is crucial for successful paper composition.
This academic activity addressed common challenges students face in the process of writing research papers, offering valuable guidance for the publication of high-level papers in the future.
In the academic activity
Zhong Jin, a graduate of EEA at Tsinghua University, obtained her doctoral degree from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. She currently holds the position of Associate Professor (tenured) at the University of Hong Kong in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. She serves as the head of the Energy Economics Center and the Intelligent Grid Laboratory. Her research interests include power markets, energy markets, smart grids, integration of renewable energy, carbon neutrality, low-carbon energy markets, low-carbon market investments, and economic incentive mechanisms.
