During the annual conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) held in Singapore from October 16 to 20, 2023, Associate Professor Zheng Zedong from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) was elected as the Chair of the Technical Committee on Transportation Electrification.
The Technical Committee on Transportation Electrification of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society is one of the 24 technical committees of the IES. It aims to unite researchers and engineering professionals in the field of transportation electrification from industry, government, and academia. The committee provides a platform for communication and collaboration in the field of transportation electrification, covering topics such as electric/plug-in hybrid vehicles, advanced energy storage systems, plug-in/wireless charging facilities, power electronics, power transmission, fuel cells, and the integration of renewable energy/microgrids.
Zheng Zedong is currently a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics at Tsinghua University, holding the Zhang Mingtao Named Professorship. He is also the Deputy Director of the Green Transportation Research Center at the Institute for Energy Internet Innovation of Tsinghua University. He is an IET Fellow and is primarily engaged in applied research in power electronics technology, power transmission technology, and their applications in electrified transportation and new energy integration. He has led over 30 projects, including key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, the National Key Research and Development Program, and various industry-sponsored projects. Associate Professor Zheng also serves as the Chair of the IEEE Transportation Electrification Community (TEC) Membership Committee and Vice Chairman of the Traffic Electrification Committee of the China Power Supply Society.
