After the appointment ceremony, Associate Professor Yu Zhanqing hosted a special academic lecture by Dr. Mohammad Shahidehpour on the topic of “Hybrid AI and Time Series Methods in Power System Forecasting”. In his presentation, Dr. Shahidehpour systematically explained the necessity of improving forecasting accuracy in power systems with large-scale renewable energy integration. He also provided a detailed introduction to AI forecasting methods that combine ensemble learning and long short-term neural networks. Additionally, he introduced a time series model with autoregressive integrated moving average in AI forecasting to enhance accuracy and robustness. Following the lecture, faculty and students from EEA engaged in an in-depth discussion with Dr. Shahidehpour on topics such as the application of AI in power systems, feature selection methods for large-scale data, and how electrical engineering professionals should approach AI technology.
