On 25-26 June, a team led by Kang Chongqing, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering (EEA), Tsinghua University, visited TBEA, Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Electric Power Company. Xu Fei, Zheng Zedong, Chen Lei, Ma Junhua, Xu Shuangqing, Shi Zinan, Li Bo, Ouyang Yong, Guan Jingru from EEA, State Key Laboratory of New Type Power System Operation and Control, Energy Internet Innovation Research Institute and Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute participated in the visit.

EEA’s team first visited the headquarters of Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co., Ltd. in Changji, Xinjiang. They were received by President Huang Hanjie, Vice Presidents Zhao Jing and Li Dan. The two sides had in-depth discussions on cooperation in production, education and research, as well as talent development. Kang Chongqing said that EEA had carried out many new research layouts around new type power systems and had built a new development framework of “one department, two institutes, one lab and one alliance” in the new era full of development opportunities. EEA hopes to expand cooperation with TBEA in the fields of new type power system equipment and new energy, and strengthen further connections in talent cultivation, student practice, and employment. Huang Hanjie said that Tsinghua University has a long history of cooperation with TBEA, and EEA has played a key supportive role in the cultivation of new industries at TBEA. In recent years, the two sides have carried out close exchanges and cooperation, and he hoped that both parties will further expand their cooperation in scientific research and talent exchange. Later, EEA’s team visited Xinjiang University and was received by Yao Qiang, President of Xinjiang University. Yao Qiang said that the development of the School of Electrical Engineering at Xinjiang University in recent years has received strong support from the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, and has achieved outstanding results in scientific research and talent cultivation. He hopes that both sides can further cooperate in the field of energy and the development of Xinjiang. Subsequently, EEA’s team had in-depth discussions with Zhang Linshuan, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, and Zhang Jianjie, Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering, and other members of the party and government team on research, teaching, party building and so on, and explored the key directions for the next step of targeted support work. Zheng Zedong, Xu Fei, and Chen Lei from the EEA gave academic presentations and had academic exchanges and discussions with some teachers and students from the School of Electrical Engineering at Xinjiang University.

On the afternoon of the 26th, EEA’s team arrived at State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. They had a discussion with the Si Weiguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman, and Li Yu, Chief Engineer of Xinjiang Electric Power Company. The team also visited the Energy Big Data Exhibition Hall. Zheng Zedong, Li Bo, Ma Junhua, and Shi Zinan from EEA made academic presentations. Subsequently, the two sides witnessed the signing of developmentn cooperation agreements among Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, Chengdu Qingrong Deep Sensing Technology Company Limited and Xinjiang Information Industry Company Limited.

Kang Chongqing highly appreciates the achievements in the application of energy big data center construction. He said that the company is based in Xinjiang as a strategic location for the national “three bases and one channel” energy strategy, accelerating the digital transformation of the power grid and promoting digital empowerment actions, the energy big data center has rich data, obvious spatiotemporal elements and significant value, which is of great significance for boosting the deep integration of the energy innovation chain, industry chain and data chain, promoting the development of new technologies, new business formats and new models in the energy industry and accelerating the high-quality development of energy in Xinjiang. Kang Chongqing pointed out that the two sides had conducted 9 professional exchanges since the signing of the letter of intent for cooperation, fully demonstrating the close cooperation between the two parties and the firm determination to promote the implementation of projects. He hoped that both sides will further carry out scientific and technological cooperation in the construction of green transportation system, construction of new type power system and coordinated development of Xinjiang green hydrogen industry and carbon monitoring, and accelerate the realization of “four major goals”, namely serving the construction of a new national energy system, serving the construction of new type power system in Xinjiang and the national power grid, serving the economic development of Xinjiang, and serving the strategy of talent empowerment.

Si Weiguo, Party Secretary and Chairman of Xinjiang Electric Power Company said that the urgent need for high-quality development of Xinjiang Power itself provides a broad stage for cooperation between the two sides. He hoped that both sides will expand cooperation in three fields in the future: first, to expand cooperation in energy and power research in Xinjiang, deepen the research on energy and power in Xinjiang, and provide strong support for the development of the energy and power industry in the autonomous region; second, to expand cooperation in standardization and institutionalization construction, formulate a series of institutional standards with guiding and practical significance in the construction of Xinjiang New Type Power System Demonstration Zone; three, to expand cooperation in resource sharing and personnel exchange, deepen high-level mutual visits and personnel exchanges, promote the professional competence improvement of talents in various fields of the company.
