On June 15, 2023, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) announced the results of the 2023 IET Postgraduate Research Awards. The doctoral student Wang Shaojie from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) at Tsinghua University is the only Chinese student to receive the Leslie H Paddle Scholarship in 2023. The scholarship is granted annually to one doctoral student in the field of global engineering and technology, and presented at the annual IET Achievement Award Ceremony.
Wang Shaojie, mainly engaged in the research on the characterization of dielectric microregion polarization and charge transport properties based on atomic force microscopy, proposed an equivalent interface research strategy, and his research work is jointly supervised by Professor He Jinliang and Associate Professor Li Qi.
IET is one of the largest professional academic societies in the field of engineering and technology worldwide. IET has over 158,000 members in 153 countries globally, with professional classifications covering five major industries including energy and power, transportation, information and communication, design and manufacturing, and construction and environment, as well as 40 specialized fields.
To support innovative scientific research, IET offers seven global awards annually to outstanding postgraduate students, including one IET Outstanding Researcher Scholarship, one Hudswell International Research Scholarship, one Leslie H Paddle Scholarship, and four IET Postgraduate Scholarships. The Leslie H Paddle Scholarship aims to reward outstanding scientific research in the field of engineering and technology, particularly the innovative work in electrical, electronic, and manufacturing engineering.
The results of the selection have been announced on the official IET website.
