On March 28, Elsevier released the list of 2022 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers”. 15 scholars including Chen Qixin, Sun Hongbin, Dang Zhimin, He Jinliang, Hu Zechun, Kang Chongqing, Liu Feng, Mei Shengwei, Sun Kai, Song Qiang, Wu Wenchuan, Wei Wei, Xie Xiaorong, Zhao Biao, and Zhang Ning from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) were on the list.
In 2022, a total of 5,216 people from 504 universities, enterprises, and research institutions were listed as “highly cited researchers in China” by Elsevier, covering 84 primary disciplines in 10 subject areas of the Ministry of Education. A total of 112 scholars were selected from the discipline of electrical engineering. Among universities, there are 7 universities with more than 100 highly cited scholars, namely Tsinghua University (245), Zhejiang University (204), Peking University (185), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (159), Fudan University (138), Huazhong University of Science and Technology (113), and University of Science and Technology of China (106).
The basic data for highly cited scholars on this list is extracted from further optimized and updated first-level subject classification mapping (covering 111 subjects) of Elsevier Department of Education. This article-level mapping makes the data on Chinese scholars' subject attribution and subject performance more intuitively displayed, which fits the academic research ecology of Chinese subject settings, and accurately depicts Chinese scholars’ research output in a comprehensive, scientific, and precise manner, providing effective assistance for further cleaning, analyzing, and researching scholars’ performance on being cited.
