From September 25 to 29, 2022, the International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE 2022) was held in Chongqing. Wang Feipeng, the chairman of ICHVE and professor of Chongqing University, on behalf of the IEEE Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Society Award Committee, announced the selection result of the two major IEEE Young-Professional Achievement Awards in the field of dielectric and electrical insulation in 2022: “IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young-professional Achievement Award” and "IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Young-professional Achievement Award”. Li Chuanyang, a young teacher in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of Tsinghua University, won the IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young-professional Achievement Award for his outstanding achievement in the research on surface charge accumulation, partial discharge and flashover phenomenon, and he became the first Chinese scholar to win this award. Yang Yang, an alumnus of EEA, won the IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Young-professional Achievement Award for his pioneering achievement in the field of self-healing of electrical damage in dielectrics.

Award certificates
IEEE Steven A. Boggs Young Professional Achievement Award is established by IEEE in memory of Steven A. Boggs, an electrical insulation expert. This award is selected every two years and granted to one winner worldwide to recognize his significant achievement in the field of dielectric and electrical insulation. The IEEE Caixin Sun and Stan Gryzbowski Award is established by IEEE to commemorate the outstanding contribution made by Academician Sun Caixin of Chongqing University and Professor Stanislaw Grzybowski of Mississippi State University in the field of high-voltage technology. This award is selected every two years and one lifetime achievement award winner and one young professional achievement award winner are selected globally each time. Among them, the Young Professional Achievement Award is granted to the young researcher who is engaged in challenging subjects in the field of high-voltage or dielectric materials and have achieved the first major achievement. The award winner gives a speech at the biennial IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE). Each of the winners of the two Young Professional Achievement Awards will receive USD 5000 and medals from Steven A. Boggs Fund and Academician Sun Caixin Education Foundation of Chongqing University. The IEEE Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Institute (DEIS) is responsible for the nomination and selection of outstanding candidates worldwide. The selection committee is composed of senior experts in the field of high-voltage insulation from different countries and regions. (See details: https://ieeedeis.org/about/awards/)
