Recently, China Institute of Communications announced the selection result of major scientific and technological progress in China’s information and communication field in 2021, the achievement of “Power Supply Equipment for Digital Information Energy System Based on Reconfigurable Battery Network” made by Researcher Ci Song’s team of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics of Tsinghua University was selected as one of the ten items of major scientific and technological progress in the information and communication field. This achievement was jointly recommended by China Mobile Communications Group Design Institute Co., Ltd., Communication Power Supply Committee of China Institute of Communication and Tsinghua University.
In terms of theoretical achievement, this technology, starting from the essential exchange relationship of energy information, proposed a system architecture and a scheduling method based on energy-information co-frequency processing, which transforms energy into a new computable network resource, constructs an energy neutralization network resource optimization framework, and further supports the fine-granularity and efficient integration of information system and energy system. In terms of equipment achievement, it designed and developed a digital energy system based on reconfigurable battery network, and the method and process for architecture design, efficient integration, operation control and performance evaluation; by constructing the system-level software definition capability, it realized the optimal matching between the digital energy system and 5g typical application scenarios (data center, edge computing node, base station) in terms of security, reliability and economy. This technology will greatly reduce the CAPEX and OPEX of ICT power supply systems, and effectively support the green and low-carbon construction and development of the new generation communication network.

The major scientific and technological progress in China’s information and communication field in 2021 is set to keep pace with the cutting-edge development in the field of information and communication, promote the innovation of information and communication technology in China, and encourage scientists and science and technology workers to keep marching in the breadth and depth of science and technology. China Institute of Communications will publicly solicit items of scientific and technological progress in the two major fields of basic information communication research and technological innovation made by related units and science and technology workers in principle, including but not limited to pioneering scientific theories, doctrines and research methods, as well as breakthrough technologies and applications. Result evaluation includes recommendation, selection and publicity, etc, and in the selection stage, the Institute of Communications will establish an expert review committee to select top ten items of scientific and technological progress in the field of information and communication through format review, preliminary evaluation and final evaluation.
