On October 22-23, 2021, the annual conference of the Chinese Technical Committee of IEEE Power & Energy Society was held in Beijing. In order to encourage and recognize the contributions made by the Chinese Technical Committee and its members to the development of the association, this conference organized an evaluation event for outstanding teams and individuals for the first time. Associate Professor Wei Wei of our department was granted the award for 2021 IEEE PES Outstanding Young Professionals in China. The awarding ceremony was held at the opening ceremony of the conference.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world largest non-profit professional technical society. The Power & Energy Society of the IEEE, aims to promote the latest technologies in the power industry, formulate industry standards, and educate industry members. In 2018, the IEEE PES established a Chinese Technical Committee to cooperate with the IEEE Beijing Office to promote PES activities in China.

Associate Professor Wei Wei is currently a senior member of IEEE and a fellow of IET, serving as an editorial board member for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid and IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification. From 2016 to 2021, he served as an editorial board member for IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy and was a reviewer for IEEE PES journals. He has reviewed more than 600 papers, and won the excellent reviewer award of IEEE PES journal for 8 times; since 2020, he has served as the secretary general of the Reliability, Risk and Probability Application Subcommittee of the Technical Committee of Power System Analysis Methods of the IEEE PES, Executive Director of the Technical Subcommittee of Electric Vehicle and Energy Transport System Integration of the Technical Committee of Electric Vehicles of the IEEE PES. He has been engaged in research on optimized decision-making and power system scheduling for a long time. He has published 2 academic monographs, more than 150 journal papers, presided over more than 10 national-level projects and power grid company science and technology projects, and won 5 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
