On the morning of July 15, 2020, the appraisal meeting of scientific and technological achievement for the project "Intelligent Analysis and Assessment Technology and Application of Power System Safety and Stability" organized by the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence was held in the form of a network video meeting. The appraisal committee consists of 9 experts including Academician Zhou Xiaoxin of China Electric Power Research Institute, Professor Qiao Junfei, Vice President of Beijing University of Technology, Professor Jia Yingmin, Director of Information and Control Research Center of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Professor Yan Gangui, Director of Science and Technology Industry Office, Northeast Electric Power University, Professor Zhang Chenghui, Dean of School of Control Science and Engineering, Shandong University, Professor Jin Heping, Chief Information Officer of China Three Gorges Corporation, Professor Luan Wenpeng of Tianjin University, Professor Xu Wenyuan of Zhejiang University and Professor Xu Jian of Wuhan University. 20 people including Professor Kang Chongqing, Associate Professor Lu Zongxiang and Associate Professor Hu Wei of EEA, Tsinghua University, and representatives from the State Power Dispatching and Control Center of State Grid, Northeast Branch of State Grid, Central China Branch of State Grid, State Grid Hubei Electric Power Company and other project completion units participated in this appraisal meeting.

The appraisal meeting is presided over by Professor Ma Nan, Secretariat of the Science and Technology Award Working Committee of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence. At the appraisal meeting, Professor Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA, Tsinghua University, first delivered a speech on behalf of the project completion units, thanked the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence for their support to Tsinghua EEA for many years, briefly introduced the development of EEA in scientific research in recent years, and thanked the cooperative units in the industry.
Then, Associate Professor Lu Zongxiang, Associate Professor Hu Wei, Engineer Sun Yunchao and Engineer Guo Qiuting of the EEA Team of New Energy Power System Dynamics and Operation delivered the development report, technical report, test report, novelty search and application benefit analysis report respectively. With the support of the National 863 Project, National Natural Science Foundation Project and the State Grid Science and Technology Project, the project team began to solve the difficulties in power system safety and stability analysis and assessment since 2011, carried out research with big data and artificial intelligence technology on three points: online accurate identification of massive data and intelligent construction of simulation scene, intelligent acquisition of dynamic safety domain and intelligent assessment of transient stability, completed theoretical breakthroughs, technical breakthroughs, system R&D and engineering applications, and realized significant economic and social benefits.

Having listened to the reports of the project team, the experts of the appraisal committee unanimously affirmed the major breakthroughs made by the project team in the field of power system safety and stability analysis and assessment after questioning, answering and discussing. It is considered that the intelligent analysis and assessment technology of power system safety and stability developed by the project has been successfully applied in power grids of Central China, Northeast China, Hubei and other places, and remarkable economic and social benefits have been realized in reducing the economic loss of power outage, improving the inter-provincial cross-sectional transmission power, reducing the risk of power grid operation, and decreasing the cost on power plant equipment maintenance. After discussion, the experts of the project appraisal committee agreed that "the project has made a number of innovative achievement and is comprehensively at the internationally advanced level, in which, the power system transient stability assessment system and the dynamic security domain acquisition technology based on deep learning are leading in the world.
After the appraisal meeting, Associate Professor Lu Zongxiang of Tsinghua EEA delivered a speech on behalf of the project research team, expressing heartfelt thanks to the experts and the Chine Association of Artificial Intelligence for their great support.
