On the morning of April 27th, the meeting of scientific and technological achievement appraisal of "Key Technology and Demonstration Project of Energy Internet Resource Sharing and Collaboration in Large Cities" organized by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering was held in video on line. More than 30 persons, including 9 experts of the appraisal committee such as Yang Bin, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, Wang Jifeng, chief engineer of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., Sun Hongbin, the first completer of the project and professor of EEA, Tsinghua University, Zhou Xiaoxin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and relevant personnel from Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd., Tsinghua University and other project completion units, attended the appraisal meeting.

Professor Yang Bin, Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech at the appraisal meeting. He first thanked the appraising experts and leaders for participating in this appraisal meeting in a video form during such a special period. President Yang talked about this project from the history of the project and the achievement of Professor Sun Hongbin's research team, and reviewed the pioneering contributions made by Professor Sun's team in the field of energy Internet in China. He highly praised the craftsman spirit that the team had always been working to satisfy the major demand in China and never afraid of hardship for many years like sharpening a sword in ten years. On behalf of the University, he also thanked CSEE, appraisal experts and cooperative units for their support to Tsinghua University over the years.

Subsequently, Wang Jifeng, chief engineer of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., delivered a speech. Engineer Wang pointed out that since the 13th Five-year Plan, Southern Power Grid has deepened its innovation-driven development strategy to support the company business transformation and lay the foundation for fully serving the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. This project is one of the remarkable achievements. The project is integrated with the main research achievement of the first batch of "Internet +" intelligent energy demonstration projects of the State Energy Administration and the key science and technology projects of Southern Power Grid Company, and is jointly completed by Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau, Tsinghua University and other units. It studies the whole construction process from the planning of overall energy Internet, to the exploration for key technologies and business models, and then to the implementation of the demonstration project

At the appraisal meeting, Professor Sun Hongbin and Associate Professor Guo Qinglai of EEA and members of the project team of Guangzhou Power supply Bureau made work reports, technical reports, application shows, etc., respectively, and reported the project details to the appraisal committee. The project was initiated by Professor Sun Hongbin to break through the barriers in traditional urban energy ecology. Research has been carried out in ten years for architecture design, edge construction of typical energy Internet users, and development of cloud integrated service platform, etc. to establish a collaborative mechanism of energy Internet resource sharing in large cities and actualize the engineering application. The project has created 1 "Internet +" intelligent energy integrated service platform, 3 intelligent parks and 3 innovative business models, covering the core elements of the energy Internet in large cities. It has promoted the leap of China urban energy system from "slicing and fragmentation" to "sharing and coordination", solved the difficulties in sharing and coordination of multi-subject and multi-industry energy resources in large-scale urban energy Internet, and is of great significance to the strategy of the energy revolution in China.

Having listened to the reports from the project team, the experts of the appraisal committee highly affirmed that the project achievement had created significant social and economic benefits in enlarging the utilization rate of energy resources in large cities, mining the flexibility of distributed resources, and improving the convenience of users. Then they asked questions and the project team members answered on the relevant technical details.

After discussion, experts of the Project Appraisal Committee agreed that the project had made significant original achievement and built the first large-scale urban energy Internet demonstration project at an internationally leading level.
