On September 2, 2019, Mr. Anjan Bose, Member of US National Academy of Engineering, IEEE fellow and professor of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of Washington State University was invited by Prof. Sun Hongbin to visit the Department of electrical engineering and Applied Electronic Technology (EEA), Tsinghua University.

On the morning of the 2nd, a specially invited academic report meeting was held in the West Main Building of Tsinghua University. Prof. Bose made an academic report entitled Cloud Computing in Power System Planning and Operation. More than 40 teachers and students from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology (EEA) participated in the activity. The report demonstrates the feasibility of real-time operation data of power system by using cloud storage and exchange, which is rich and detailed in content, and arouses active questions from the audience.

On the afternoon of February 2, Prof. Bose visited the State Key Laboratory of Control and Simulation of Power System and Power Generation Equipments, and listened to the latest progress report of EEA teachers and students on the research directions of power system transmission and distribution collaborative energy management, integrated energy system multi-energy flow energy management, and renewable energy cluster rapid control. Both sides had in-depth academic discussion.

Prof. Bose is a world-renowned scholar in the field of power system control, member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), foreign fellow of the Indian National Academy of engineering, and senior IEEE fellow. He once served as a senior power grid consultant of the U.S. Department of Energy in the Obama administration. He has won the outstanding Educator Award in the field of electric power engineering, IEEE Millennium medal, and IEEE Herman Halperin medal in power transmission and distribution, and is an outstanding alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology and Institute of technology of Iowa State University.
