On August 20, 2019, the first annual meeting of Energy Internet Specialized Committee of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE) (the seminar of Energy Strategy and Energy Internet) were held in Chengdu. The meeting was hosted by the CSEE Energy Internet Specialized Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Specialized Committee), organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology (EEA) of Tsinghua University and the State Grid Information & Communication Group, and co-organized by the Editorial Department of Global Energy Internet and Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute under Tsinghua University (EIRI). More than 150 members and representatives from universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises in the fields of energy, Internet and financial institutes attended the meeting, and carried out interdisciplinary, cross-industry and cross-sector academic exchanges around energy strategy and energy Internet technology.

The opening ceremony of the meeting was presided over by Sun Hongbin, deputy director of Academic Affairs Office of Tsinghua University, professor of EEA of Tsinghua University and vice chairman of the Specialized Committee. Kang Chongqing, deputy secretary general of China Society of Electrical Engineering, director of the EEA of Tsinghua University, president of Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute under Tsinghua University (EIRI), Chen Weijiang, academician and chairman of the Specialized Committee of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Bai Kai, director of the Editorial Department of Global Energy Internet, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

On behalf of China Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE), Prof. Kang Chongqing congratulated the first academic annual meeting of the Specialized Committee. He stressed that at present, China is in a critical period of new energy revolution and transformation. Energy strategy is related to the overall development. Energy Internet is a new form of smart grid in the new era. He hoped that in the new historical starting point, the Specialized Committee could take the opportunity of the next annual meeting to closely unite relevant scientific and technological workers in various fields, strengthen academic exchanges, technological innovation and integration of production, universities and researches, consolidate China’s leading position in the world in the field of energy Internet, and make outstanding contributions to the national energy transformation and development.

Academician Chen Weijiang, on behalf of the Specialized Committee, welcomed the guests. He pointed out that under the new situation of the energy revolution, the establishment of the Specialized Committee is in line with the technological needs of the times, and there is great room for its growth in the future. The original intention of the Specialized Committee is to promote the construction and development of the comprehensive energy system with electricity as the core, and pay attention to the user side with the goal of clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient utilization of comprehensive energy. Focusing on the technical connotation and industrial demand of the energy Internet, the Specialized Committee will do the next key work, that is, to establish five professional groups, including comprehensive energy system planning and operation, energy Internet equipment, business model and market, information physical energy system, and energy Internet and integration, to speed up the interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary integration, and attract more technical workers to join in.

In his speech, Bai Kai said that the Editorial Department of Global Energy Internet will help to build the annual academic meeting of the Specialized Committee into an attractive multi-disciplinary integration and exchange platform in the field of energy research, and give full play to the positive role of academic journals in the academic exchange of energy Internet.

Subsequently, Zeng Nan, director of the Technology Division of the Internet Department of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), Wang Ke, director of the Planning Department of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid, Wei Zhinong, member of the Specialized Committee, and vice president of the School of Energy and Electrical Engineering, Hehai University, He Zhengyou, member of Specialized Committee and vice president of the School of Electrical Engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chen Wenkang, member of the Specialized Committee and general manager of Tianjin Richsoft Electric Power Information Technology Co., Ltd., and Xiao Jinyu, director of the Technology Department of Economic and Technological Research Institute of Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, delivered speeches respectively by focusing on the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of things, demonstration and exploration of energy Internet in mega city power grid, operation and game of comprehensive energy system, concept of urban transportation energy Internet, practice of energy Internet in smart cities, and outlook of key technologies in energy transformation.

The final link of the main forum is the award presentation to excellent papers, which is hosted and read out by Lu Zongxiang, deputy director of the EEA of Tsinghua University, associate professor hired for a long term by the EEA, and secretary general of the Specialized Committee.

There are 67 papers collected in the annual meeting, 56 of which have been accepted by peer experts. Finally, 5 first-prize papers, 6 second-prize papers and 7 third-prize papers have been selected. Two vice chairmen of the Specialized Committee, Lai Zhengtian, deputy general manager of State Grid System Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Sun Hongbin, professor of the EEA, Tsinghua University, presented certificates to the winners, and took group photos with the prize winners.

On the afternoon of the 20th, the meeting set up four sub-forums, namely, comprehensive energy system with multi-energy complementation, information physical system and application of advanced ICT technology, energy Internet market structure and business model, and 2019 annual meeting of Energy Internet Working Committee of the Alliance of Emerging Engineering for Information Education (AEEE). Nearly 30 experts, scholars and excellent paper authors were invited to the meeting for the exchange, and participants discussed relevant issues together.

With the joint efforts of all participants, the annual meeting was successfully held, and the technical personnel engaged in researches in related fields also established closer ties. It has built an interdisciplinary, multi-industry, and trans-department in-depth exchange platform for colleges, universities, institutions and enterprises engaged in researches in energy Internet and other related fields in China, and promoted construction and development of energy system with electricity as the core and focusing on the user side, and built a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient comprehensive energy world.
