On January 16, 2019, the Department of Electrical Engineering & Applied Electronic Technology (EEA) held the 2018 work summary and exchange meeting. More than 170 EEA Party and government leaders, in-service and retired faculty members gathered together to attend the “big family” gathering of the EEA. They reviewed the past, looked forward to the future, exchanged wishes and prayers for the New Year, and shared the deep friendship between the old, middle and young people in the EEA. The exchange was hosted by Zhang Pinjia and Zhou Junyu, who are teachers of the EEA.

Kang Chongqing, director of the EEA, first reported to the teachers on the main work and achievements of the EEA in 2018. The EEA completed the inspection and evaluation on undergraduate teaching and the on-site evaluation on the state key laboratories with high quality, and actively carried out the construction of the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute Tsinghua University and the Research Institute for Energy Internet Innovation. In addition, the Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association was formally established, and achievements have been made in discipline construction, teacher team construction, personnel training and scientific research. He expressed thanks to the faculty and staff for their contributions to the development of the EEA and sent greetings and wishes for the New Year. Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the EEA, reviewed the major events of the EEA in 2018, introduced the development of the "Top Ten EEA News Selections in 2018, and unveiled the list of Top Ten News. He hoped that teachers will continue to care about and support the work of the EEA and make new contributions to the construction of the "Double First-class" university.

The top ten EEA news in 2018 is unrevealed in a chronological order as follows:

1. Min Yong and Dong Xinzhou et al. won two second-class national award for invention and many other awards.

2. Progresses are made in the recruitment and cultivation of energy majors and the construction of new energy Internet engineering courses.

3. The EEA team kept seven consecutive championships, and won the team championship of the 2018 John Ma Cup Table Tennis Competition.

4. Yu Xinjie, Huang Songling and other teachers were awarded the first and second prizes for 2017 Beijing municipal teaching achievements.

5. The Electrical Engineering Degree Authorized Unit successfully passed expert field assessment

6. The State Key Laboratory of Electric Power System has passed the field investigation for the 2018 evaluation.

7. Kang Chongqing was awarded the THU Mentorship Award, and Ding Qingqing won the title of "My Favorite Teachers of "Classical Candlelight".

8. The Tsinghua EEA Alumni Association was established formally.

9. The Energy Internet Special Committee of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering (CSEE) was formally established.

10. Articles by He Jinliang and Li Qi were published in the journal Nature Nanotechnology.

Later, new teachers (since 2014) Zhang Pinjia, Zhang Ling, Cha Junwei, Yi Chen-yi, Li Qi, Wang Bin, Zhang Ning, Lin Jin, Zhao Biao and Li Xiaoqian came to the stage to introduce themselves in turn, and to send New Year's greetings. They have brought new vitality and power for the development of the EEA. They will use youth, wisdom and sweat to write a better and brilliant future together.

On the spot, each teacher born in the Year of Pig was presented with the mascot of the Year of Pig. The oldest teacher Gao Yuming and the youngest teacher Mr. Zhuang Chijie, made speeches respectively as representatives. They wished the EEA to make great progress and brilliant achievements, and expressed thanks to the EEA for the opportunity of meeting and exchanging arranged by the EEA. They hoped all present teachers will meet again in the next twelve years.

There was also lottery in the venue, which was full of surprises and joy. All present teachers could share the joy of leaving the old year and welcoming the new one. The scene was full of spring atmosphere, peaceful and warm.
