The 2nd IEEE Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration co-sponsored by Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers-Power & Energy Society (IEEE PES), Energy & Mining Engineering Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Tsinghua University (THU) and North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) was held ceremoniously in Beijing from Oct. 21 to 22, 2018.

The opening ceremony was held on the morning of Oct. 21, and Mr. Wang Zengping who is vice President of North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) presided over the ceremony. The following guests delivered speeches successively: Mr. Saifur Rahman, Chairman of IEEE PES; Academician Su Yinao, Director of Energy & Mining Engineering Department of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE); Mr. Zheng Baosen, President of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CESS); Academician Zhou Xiaoxin of China Electric Power Research Institute Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Yang Yongping, Chairman of the Conference and President of the NCEPU.

After the opening ceremony ended, Prof. A. G. Phadke who is IEEE Fellow and Member of US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), Academician Ching-Chuan Chen, Professor of University of Hong Kong, Prof. Mohammad Shahidehpour, IEEE Fellow and Member of US National Academy of Engineering, Academician Liu Jizhen, Professor of the NCEPU, Mr. Saifur Rahman, Chairman of IEEE PES, Mr. Chen Guoping, Chief Engineer of State Grid Corporation of China, Prof. Chanan Singh, Member of US National Academy of Engineering, Prof. Benjamin Kroposki, IEEE Fellow, Tang Guangfu, Academician of Global Energy Interconnection Research Institute Co., Ltd., Prof. Joe H. Chow, Member of US NAE, and IEEE Fellow & Prof. Wilsun Xu, made keynote speeches successively at the Conference. These keynote reports were hosted respectively by Mr. Sun Hongbin, Professor of Tsinghua University and co-Chairman of the Conference, Mr. Wang Jianhui, Professor of Southern Methodist University and co-Chairman of the Conference, Mr. Mu Gang, Professor of Northeast Dianli University, and Mr. Wang Chengshan, Professor of Tianjin University.

On the afternoon of Oct. 27 and the whole day of the 28, reports and discussion were carried out orderly at the parallel sessions on such hot problems as the innovative technology and practical applications in energy internet and energy systems integration, the energy systems and information technology, the high integration of artificial intelligence technology, and the synergy of multiple energy systems.

The 1st IEEE Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration was co-sponsored by Tsinghua University and IEEE PES. It focused on the two hot points in the energy field: energy internet and energy system integration, aiming at realizing interconnection, openness, synergy and share of energy resources, and shaping the brighter energy world.

On the basis of the purport the first Conference, the 2nd IEEE Conference received a total of 1140 academic papers from 21 countries and regions, and organized 17 symposiums and 12 forums for presentation of papers. It contributed more papers and larger scale than the 1st Conference. The Conference offers a high-end academic exchange platform to important international organizations, the world-class universities, scientific social organizations and enterprises in the electrical and energy fields. It is of importance and far-reaching influence in the world.
