The Founding Ceremony of the Special Technology Committee of IEEE PES Energy Internet--2018 IEEE PES Annual Meeting in China Area co-sponsored by IEEE PES, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), Tsinghua University and XJ Group Corporation was successfully held at the auditorium in the main building of North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) on Oct. 20, 2018.

The opening ceremony was held on the morning of Oct. 20, and Mr. Sun Hongbin, Professor of Tsinghua University and Chairman of the Special Technology Committee of IEEE PES Energy Internet, hosted the Ceremony. The following guests delivered speeches successively: Prof. Yang Yongping, President of North China Electric Power University (NCEPU); Mr. Shi Yubo, standing deputy Direction of China Energy Research Society and former deputy Director General of the National Energy Administration; Mr. Wang Yimin, general manager assistant of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC); Yao Hong, deputy chief Engineer of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd.; Academician Zhou Xiaoxin, Honorary President of China Electric Power Research Institute; Academician Xue Qikun, vice President of Tsinghua University, and Prof. Saifur Rahman, Chairman of IEEE PES.

Address by Academician Xue Qikun, vice President of Tsinghua University

In his address, vice President Xue Qikun expressed his congratulations on the establishment of the Special Technology Committee. He spoke highly of the important roles of energy internet in energy transition, and reviewed the important roles of Tsinghua University in the development of energy internet technology, and introduced the achievements of Tsinghua University in the students enrollment in the energy field and the professional construction of energy internet.

After the conclusion of the opening ceremony, the launching ceremony of the Special Technology Committee of IEEE PES Energy Internet was held, and then the inaugurations of IEEE PES Standard Committee in China Area, IEEE PES Woman Engineer Committee in China Area, IEEE PES Youth Engineer Committee in China Area, IEEE PESIEEE PES Smart Countryside in China Area, and IEEE PES Education Committee in China Area, were carried out.

Special guests appear on the stage to witness the launching ceremony

After the inaugurations, Mr. Yu Yixin, Academician of CAE and Professor of Tianjin University, Mr. Zhang Boming, IEEE Fellow and Professor of Tsinghua University, and Mr. Zhang Wenlin, vice President of Huawei Company, delivered keynote reports respectively, and gave the detailed introduction and analysis on the leading-edge trends in current energy internet field. The reports were discussed warmly by representatives present in the meeting.

On the afternoon of Oct. 20, Mr. Bo Zhiqian, Chairman of IEEE PES in China Area, made the 2018 Annual Work Report. After that, the six technology sub-committees of energy internet policy and planning, energy internet operation and control, energy internet equipment, energy internet physical system, energy internet market and commercial model, and energy internet engineering practice and benefit evaluation, held meetings respectively, discussing the contents, frameworks, outputs and deliverables of these committees. After the forums of the technology sub-committees ended, the special activities were kicked off at the same time by IEEE PES Youth Committee in China Area, IEEE PES Woman Engineer Forum in China Area, IEEE PES Standard Committee in China Area, the Energy Internet Committee of China Automation Society, and IEEE PES Smart Countryside Committee in China Area.

The IEEE PES Energy Internet Special Technology Committee is aiming at accelerating the deep integration of energy and information industry, promoting the scientific and technological innovation of energy internet, and guiding to formulate and structure the new standards, rules and forms of energy internet industry. The first IEEE PES special technology committee initiated by China and established in China is a beginning for Chinese electric and energy scholars to take the lead to build and lead the international technological organizations, marking the global guidance status of China in such emerging fields as energy internet. So, it is of epoch-making and milestone significance.
