On September 10, 2018, the 2018 International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Applications (ICHVE) opened in Athens, Greece. Associate Prof. Li Qi of the Department of Electrical Engineering Tsinghua University was invited to give an invitation report entitled "Polymer Dielectric Materials for High Temperature Thin Film Capacitors". The Conference is the top academic one in the field of high voltage engineering. It is held every two years. The conference collects 395 papers. More than 400 scholars from all over the world participated in the event.
At the Conference, IEEE Sun Caixin and Stanislaw Gubanski, chairman of the Stan Grzybowski Award Committee, unveiled the results of the selection of the 2018 IEEE Sun Caixin and Stan Grzybowski Young-professional Achievement Award for Young Scholars. Li Qi, associate professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering, got the award for his outstanding contribution in the field of nano-dielectric materials.
The IEEE Sun Caixin and Stan Grzybowski Young Scholars Achievement Award was established by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) in 2017 and funded by the Sun Caixin Education Fund to recognize young scholars who have made outstanding contributions in the field of high voltage and dielectric materials worldwide. The award is awarded to young scholars by IEEE DEIS every two years. Prof. Li Qi is the first winner of the award.
In December 2016, Prof. Li Qi joined the Department of Electrical Engineering after leaving the post-doctoral program of Pennsylvania State University. He published more than 60 SCI papers and applied for more than 10 patents in important international journals such as Nature, PNAS and Advanced Materials. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the Dielectric Polymer Composites and Applications Committee of the Chinese Society of Composite Materials.
