On June 21, 2018 at the 19th International Electromagnetic Launch Technology Symposium hosted by the French-German Research Institute of Saint-Louis, Prof. Yu Xinjie of DEE, Tsinghua University, was awarded the Peter Mark Medal for Outstanding Contribution to Electromagnetic Launch Technology, in recognition of his contributions to the development of high energy storage density pulse power module and the scientific dissemination of pulse power technology. The Peter Mark Medal, established by the International Electromagnetic Launch Conference in 1983, is the highest technology contribution award in the field of international electromagnetic launching. So far, there are 15 winners (including 2 from China).
On the same day, Liu Xukun, a doctoral student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, won the European Electromagnetic Launch Society Young Researcher Award. The award was first established in 2018 and was awarded to two winners.
