Time Never Stops and Precious Memory Lasts Forever.
In the afternoon of April 30, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) held a joint seminar for alumni admitted in 1988 and 1999 in Lecture Hall 217, Zone 3 of the West Main Building. The event was presided over by alumni Zhang Lan (admitted in 1988) and Liu Yi (admitted in 1999). At the seminar, Yu Xinjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of EEA, expressed a warm welcome to the alumni who returned to the university to participate in the celebration activities. He introduced the development of EEA in recent years and expected the alumni to always pay attention to the construction of the University and the Department, help boost the prosperity of society and make more contributions to the development of the country and the Chinese people. In the speech session of grade representatives, Zhang Lan, an alumnus admitted in 1988, and Zheng Zedong, an alumnus admitted in 1999, introduced the basic information of the alumni admitted in these two years, respectively.
Since the speaking session, the atmosphere was warm and lively with laughter. Alumni admitted in 1988, including Lv Yunqiang, Hu Yongdong, Qu Ronghai, Zhou Weidong, Peng Shuangqun, Du Guojuan, Zhang Haibo and Kuang Wei, and alumni adimitted in 1999, including Zhang Xing (male), Chen Lei, Yang Gaofeng, Zhang Xing (female) and Wang Chenchen, delivered speeches, respectively. The alumni recalled the wonderful moments of their days in the university, reviewed their experiences and growth gains, and also shared their work careers and life insights after graduation.
At the seminar, the alumni admitted in 1988 and 1999 issued a proposal of “Decennial Relay for Centennial Journey”, proposing all alumni to inherit and carry forward the spirit of the Department of Electrical Engineering, join hands for the new decade and look forward to the centennial celebration of the Department of Electrical Engineering together. Zhang Lan, an alumnus admitted in 1988, and Yu Zhanqing, an alumnus admitted in 1999, read out the proposal on behalf of all the alumni. The two grades also gave each other commemorative gifts. Kang Chongqing (admitted in 1988), Dean of EEA, said in his concluding speech that the alumni admitted in 1988 and the alumni admitted in 1999 have a long history of affinity and have had in-depth exchanges and cooperation in various fields. The joint seminar of these two grades is an innovation, which enhanced the collective cohesion and burst out more ideas and perspectives that are beneficial to the development of EEA. He praised the outstanding achievements of alumni in key fields of national development, and hoped that they would take EEA as a strong reliance no matter in good times or bad times. At the same time, he hoped that everyone could remember the university motto of “Self-discipline and social commitment”, carry forward the university spirit of “actions speak louder than words”, and create excellent performance worthy of the country, the university and themselves! Although they have left their alma mater for many years, alumni always care about the development of Tsinghua university. Tsinghua used to be the place where dreams originated, and it will always be a warm harbor for wanderers to look forward to returning. The self-improving Tsinghua people will always take innovation as their unswerving pursuit to make progress. The alma mater is watching everyone from afar to write a new chapter of Tsinghua with more confidence and calmness.
