On February 18, 2023, the ceremony for the establishment of the Branch of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronics (EEA) of the Alumni Association of Tsinghua University in Guangzhou (hereinafter referred to as “EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou”) was held at the Hotel Nikko Guangzhou. Jiang Shengyao, Deputy Director of the University Affairs Committee of Tsinghua University and Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Tang Jie, Director of the Alumni Work Office of Tsinghua University and Secretary General of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Shi Anhai, Former President of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, Xu Chunlong, Executive Vice President and Secretary General of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, and Kang Chongqing, Dean of EEA and President of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association, et al. attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Yu Xinjie, Vice President of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association.
Jiang Shengyao delivered a speech
Jiang Shengyao, Deputy Director of the University Affairs Committee of Tsinghua University and Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, delivered a speech.
Vice President Jiang Shengyao said in his speech: alumni work is the radiation and continuation of talent training for the university, and it is an important part of the university’s talent training work; attaching importance to alumni work is an inevitable requirement for the development of an excellent university. He was glad to attend the ceremony for the establishment of EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, and he believed that that although the Electrical Engineering Department is a traditional department, it is leading and innovative in alumni work. Before the establishment of the branch in Guangzhou, the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Chengdu, Sichuan of Southeast China and the Branch in Shenzhen had been established, and they played an important role in promoting exchanges and common development between alumni and their alma mater. He finally pointed out: In recent years, the university has made a series of new achievements in exploring the reform of the academic system, the direct-training from undergraduates to doctors, scientific research and innovative development. Entering a new stage of development, the country and society have put forward higher requirements and expectations for the construction and development of Tsinghua University. He hoped that the university, the department and all alumni will work together to explore the road to building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.
Shi Anhai delivered a speech
Shi Anhai, Former President of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, delivered a speech.
Shi Anhai is an alumnus of the Department of Architecture enrolled in 1958. On behalf of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, he expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou. Shi Anhai said that the Alumni Association in Guangzhou, a local alumni association with a complete settings and sufficient activities outside Beijing, has been encouraging the establishment of branches and professional committees, as well as various cultural and sports activities so as to expand the influence of the Alumni Association in local university activities. He hopes that the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou grow into the most united and cohesive branch, and teachers, classmates and alumni from all over the country may come to Guangzhou for exchanges and guidance.
Kang Chongqing delivered a speech
Kang Chongqing, President of the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, delivered his congratulations to the establishment. He said that EEA established a branch under the guidance of the Alumni Association in 2018, and thus actively promoted the establishment of branches in many places. He hopes alumni from all over the country can be truly united, and a communication platform for alumni can be built to promote communication between alumni and their alma mater. The Association and EEA will fully support the Branch in Guangzhou, build a dynamic platform to radiate Yunnan and Guizhou, and help the growth and development of alumni through the development of work in various fields.

Li Licheng delivered a speech
Li Licheng, the first president of EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou, delivered a speech on behalf of the first board of directors. He said that the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou should not only absorb alumni who have studied and worked in EEA, but also invite people who actively support EEA’s alumni work in the joint construction. From then on, the EEA Branch of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou will take the mission of helping social and economic development, focus on the construction of electrical engineering disciplines, scientific research innovation, and talent training, and exert its power to build a platform through appropriate organization of activities that are conducive to promoting alumni teams and connecting alumni.

At the ceremony, the “Measures for Management of EEA Branch Tsinghua Alumni Association in Guangzhou” were approved by voting.
