More than 80% of China's energy is distributed in the western and northern regions, and more than 70% of its electricity consumption is concentrated in the eastern and central regions. The "West-to-East Power Transmission" has become a major strategy to optimize the allocation of energy and electricity across regions. (The ±800 kV UHVDC transmission project from northwest Yunnan to Shenzhen in Guangdong of the Southern Power Grid is China's construction of the world's highest elevation UHVDC transmission project with the highest level of fortification and earthquake resistance. It can deliver 20 billion degrees of clean water and electricity in the west to the east each year, accounting for about 1/4 of Shenzhen's annual electricity consumption. )
